Cancelling with Vodafone

I e-mailed Vodafone a few days ago and stated that I wished to cancel and receive a PAC code.
I'm in the last two months of contract and know I need to pay a fee but that doesnt really bother me.
It does bother me that whenever I used that service to ask a mundane question they get back to me quite quickly.
When I ask to cancel they dont bother to reply or even acknowledge the e-mail I sent.
Is there any reason why they cant action my request via e-mail?

I think you have call and go through security to prove you are who you say you are. An email could come from anyone and they have to stick to the data protection act.
Also, the email teams get 1000's of mails a day and are always days and days behind in answering.0 -
yes call them up, I personally would be glad they don't allow security/sensitive actions over email, as Jon01 says it really could be anyone emailing them.0

I think Guys Dad is right here but you're right you should have been given the option. Odd they didn't do anything to keep you.
At least you're happier now - that's the main thing
All I want is the chance to prove money can't buy me happiness

They are able to answer queries, quite quickly, if it is nothing to do with cancelling the service. At least in my experience.
Mention the word cancellation and they dont acknowledge that you have been in touch with them never mind actioning the request.
I really dont want to speak to anyone who is going to try and sell me a new phone. I'm not cancelling to try and get a great upgrade deal to retain my custom.
I just want to end the contract.0 -
I understand you don't want the 'sales pitch' But cancelling is as final an act as you can ask for. They Have to know it you, they are required under the data protection act to do so. Therefore you have no choice but to call them.
As far as I'm aware, no network will take a cancellation request via email.
You'd be mightily hacked off if you got up one morning to find, not only your phone wasn't working but that your number was gone for good as well because someone had emailed a request to your network and they'd completed...0 -

Including address and payment method etc.
It would be nice of them to reply though and say you cant do this via e-mail, please call us.
On their website they indicate that you can cancel via e-mail too.0 -
Well, I've tried phoning today too and was told I cant cancel over the phone, it has to be in writing.
So whatever way I try to cancel the contract I am being given no help.
Aside from now writing a letter and sending it recorded delivery is there any other way of going about this?0 -
Depends... Do you want to keep your number?
If you do you need to ask for your pac code, not to cancel or you'll lose it. Once you use the code to move your number your acc ends. Even if you don't want to keep your number you could a fee payg sim from another network, transfer your Voda number to that (which will close your acc) and throw it away. . .0 -
I phoned up to cancel for my mum and they let me? I did know her security questions etc, ended up offering me a great deal though so she's stayed with them. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0
