To be honest he dosn't care either way and sees this as a big joke imo. The only time he sees Josh is once every year or so when he comes over to see his mum and dad and then it is only for a day or so and only if Josh happens to be staying at his grand parents that weekend. Dosn;t bother to send Birthday cards, Christmas cards or even phone him.

I think everyone is forgetting, it is only the Isle of Man, £20 on the ferry and he could see Josh in 2 hours time. He isn't the other end of the world but makes zero effort because he dosn't care. He dosn't have parental responsibility and that is something we are looking into getting for myself. If anything should happen to his mum Laura then she needs peace of mind that he will be looked after by me and not be split from is brother here.

    Sounds great don't it....;)

Although a special fare is £20 he doesn't have to use that in his figures provided to CSA. He can use the normal single each way fare which is from a low season price of £110.25 a median price of £157.25 up to £173.25 each way between Isle of Man and Liverpool (assuming UK).

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Based on what information was this based? This is similar to the sorts of courts orders that used to get passed prior to the CSA's inception, although they were often 5p per year! Do you get any info about his circumstances so you can appeal with information?

Some of those low payments were done to keep the claim open in case the NRP came into more money or higher earnings were found. I have a great aunt in her 80s, who still receives her £20 per year from her ex even though she is now a great grandmother!

and there is where your problem lies.

ok, you have a sh1tty ex, but your attitude sucks. it's no wonder you've had the grief you have over the years.

and i don't give a flying toss if the hens on here start rattling on. there's always another side to EVERY story, and it's clear why you have a non compliant ex.

I'm not a hen, so I'll say it - no real man would ever try to get out of paying for his child.

My answer to the OP would be to find a real man and let him become her child's daddy.

and yet more balanced posts. NOT. chances are she's already tried that approach. standard procedure from a woman scorned. "find new daddy, get back at ex"

it's always about the money to some.

even my moronic ex has begun to see the bigger picture.

You may not be a hen, but by god you are acting like a child! Get the child a new daddy the child has a daddy already, some people really need to wake up and see the bigger picture you can't pick a childs' daddy once the child is born.

OP you go down this route and you are no better than him.

Way it go! Well done top marks, you have told your 9 year old child that daddy is only going to pay £5 a year child support, nothing amazes on MSE anymore. A child doesn't need to know this information! especially one so young.

This is so true. My kids think the sun shines out of their dads rear end. I'm not going to tell them otherwise, even though I know different. They will figure that out for themselves when their older. At the moment, they need to think he's wonderful otherwise they'll have a miserable time when they go to stay and it will shatter their illusions of having a fab childhood. I don't want my kids shouldering that. No amount of money can buy a happy child.
