Hopefully the Quidco will track at the pre-refund amount!

What are the T&C for Groupon? If we are allowed to refund the unused vouchers we should all do the same so they will seriously address this issue.

Groupon T&C's are usually 'refund within 7 working days of receiving your Groupon'.

Given they only got sent out yesterday, you'd be within your time to return it.

I just got another email from Alpharooms saying the following:

Thank you for your booking with alpharooms.com.

We regret that a technical error has occurred for a small number of customers when calculating the Groupon discount for your booking with itinerary number XXXXXX, and the incorrect discount has been applied to your booking.

We apologise wholeheartedly for this error, and we are already working through these refunds to rectify this. Therefore you should see the correct discount refunded to you, and in your account, in 3-5 working days.

We sincerely apologise for this inconvenience and are grateful for your understanding.

    Many thanks,

I'll wait and see what happens.....mistakes happen, it's how a business deals with them that counts. :)
  • I recieved the same e mail so hopefully it will be sorted and I will get a good deal on the booking

I looked up a cheap hotel in leeds before buying the voucher (ibis) - but when I went back to book it, the hotel had been removed. The rooms are still available direct through ibis. And through several other brokers, for the same price.

Plus the rest of the hotel rates seem to have been hiked by at least the £30 saving.

Can't help but feel I've been ripped off by Alpharooms.

Most agents have an allocation which is subject to confirmation, in fact I can't think of any that do not?

Yes, but to be fair most agents remove the rooms that they've sold their allocation of from their site! In my case, the room was showing there two weeks ago, then last week, then 3 days ago, and still today - but was tol over the phone that they "probably" don't have any more!

(Room is available at a better price absolutely everywhere else, but went for the groupon as it would work out about £20 cheaper overall. Feel conned as all other hotels I could use are massively overpriced, even taking the voucher into account!) :(

No, you are thinking of a confirmed allocation, whereas I referred to an allocation on request. In the latter case, when you attempt to book the agent will (electronically or manually) contact their supplier to confirm availability. It is very common practice.

Can you give an example of the massively overpriced hotels, and the location/ dates you are looking for?
    Gone ... or have I?

dmg24 - I have to agree with Samutiana. I understand what you're saying about allocation, but it seems like too much of a coincidence that their allocations were reached immediately after the vouchers were activated.

There were 3 other hotels in Leeds that I was looking at - and they've all increased in price.

just booked a room in leeds for monday (Compuer couse at center in leeds) the total cost was below £50, but still needed to pay the £5 which is a bit outrageous, so total cost is £25. but overall i paid £28 this week for a etap hotel, which was on a busy road, with paper thin windows and no breakfast so cant complain (even thou the extra charge wasnt hightlighted by groupon)
