Groupon £20 for £50 worth of hotel vouchers

I know Solo cards are free and it's £5 for a credit card transaction, but does anyone know the cost of using a Visa debit card??
Could be costly if it's also £5, especially if the booking minus code is only a pound or two - could well de-value the actual voucher deal.

Does anyone know if you can use an Electron card, without charge?
Thanks.0 -
the travel agency offering this voucher (alpharooms.com) in partnership with Groupon has bad reviews. People complain about the bad customer service or "no customer service".

I have used Alpharooms numerous times with no problems. You will get bad reviews about any service provider, but they are one of the better agencies.Gone ... or have I?0 -
I've also never had problems and have used them a few times. I'm going to order a few- it definitely doesn't say anywhere the hotel break itself has to be used within a specific time frame.0

Trying to use my voucher now and keep getting this message:
"Sorry - your room is no longer available. This is because it may have become unavailable since the time you performed your availability check."
Yet every time I perform the availability 3 types of rooms show as available at that hotel, and all 3 give me the same error message! :mad:0 -
Even if you don't need to pay any cash, ie your booking is below £50, they still make you pay a £5.00 credit card charge
Is this legal?0 -
I'm going to revise this to give Alpha Rooms a chance to correct their mistake. My advice would be to wait a few hours before booking, as apparently they are having serious IT issues with the Groupon Vouchers and the booking volumes.
I spoke to a nice guy in the call centre who was very helpful, and said he will either email or phone once they have a resolution.
I'll wait and see.......0 -
Wouldn't go through (£47 - zero to pay after groupon) without cc details.
Put in cc details, it said total to pay £0.00 I clicked confirm and it took £5.00 from my account. Customer services say this is correct (so its a booking fee rather than a credit card fee)
Very disappointed in Alpharooms and Groupon0 -

Don't wanna say i told you so but I did warn you guys about the bad reviews. It's true that not always the bad reviews mean the merchant is 100% bad but still. Anyway sorry to hear you are having problems0
