Trying to use my voucher now and keep getting this message:

"Sorry - your room is no longer available. This is because it may have become unavailable since the time you performed your availability check."

Yet every time I perform the availability 3 types of rooms show as available at that hotel, and all 3 give me the same error message!

I'm getting exactly the same thing!!!

My booking is a shambles! First of all it's come up with the nonsensical sum below (which doesn't make sense)

    Accommodation
    £83.66

    Payment card charge
    £12.72

    Voucher discount (9693xxxBD)
    -£0.00

    Total Payment Today:
    £38.66

then when they sent me the email, it was a completely different total again! Comes up with a total of £98.38, calculated as 83.66 - (-2) + 12.72 card charges.

Have no idea what's going on to be honest, seems like an utter shambles to me.

    Me too :(

    Accommodation
    £45.97

    Payment card charge
    £5.00

    Voucher discount (9693xxxBD)
    -£2.00

    Total Payment Today:
    £52.97

And a £5 credit card charge to process zero pence. Disgraceful!
  • I just had the same problem on a similar price booking to yours. I rang Alpharooms and was told that the e mail had the full price £98.89 inc £12.58 booking fee but the price I have been charged was the lesser price £39.31. Will have to wait and see what happens on my c/card statement. Never used them before so was a bit wary. Keeping copy of order print off with correct payment in case any probs. Hope will be ok.

Mine went through absolutely fine. Took off insurance and travel insurance- only got the £5 card fee but I'm not bothered about that as the cashback from quidco will help cancel that out- even if it doesn't- it's still saved me a good £25 on a room that I wouldn't have been able to get cheaper elsewhere. We stay in the same hotel every year for a particular festival and I've never seen it advertised at less than alpharooms were charging anyway- with the £30 discount it's a bargain
  • I've just spoken to the booking line reference the issue with rooms showing but then being told there is no availability when booking, and the lady told me that even though they advertise the rooms, it doesn't necessarily mean they have got them!?!??????

Most agents have an allocation which is subject to confirmation, in fact I can't think of any that do not?
    Gone ... or have I?

My booking has gone through with no problems. For those that had probs earlier, would be worth trying again now.

The booking does try to force insurance on you- I had to click on view booking on the payment screen to remove the travel insurance option.

Solo card- says no charge but expect £5 for other cards.

Also remember you don't need to have the cancellation waiver insurance - just untick the box

Also- obviously- get it emailed rather than pay £15 p&p.

Never had problems with alpharooms personally- in fact I have always liked their booking system and how they send reminder emails nearer the time etc. Cashback historically has always tracked quickly for me too.
  • I bought a groupon voucher on 6th April after checking that Sofitel Gatwick would charge me £106.80 for 1 nt stay room only for 2 people through Alpharooms. On 8th April at 2.10 pm I found that this price had been hiked to £127.33.I have still booked the room but extremely annoyed that I felt caught as I had already bought the voucher. The end product is I have been made to jump through so many hoops to save a pawltry £4.33 (Ithink because I still do not know how much they have charged me .Their receipt says £137.33 but last figure before paying said £82.33).
    What a MESS! Tom S
