I think you are really really missing the point.
I won't bother trying to argue because there is never any point when someone has made up their mind in the way you have.
Just remember that a good number of the people you tell about these views will be suspecting you are nowhere near as innocent as you say...Always overestimating...0 -
Seems an obvious conclusion!0

'If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear'.
It's not about fear.
There is no reason whatsoever that I should have my movements tracked. I am not a criminal. I do not want my fingerprints on a DNA database, I will not consent to a CCTV camera at the end of my street, I do not want the Government to intrude into my private life.
I would rather see ten thousand murderers go free than have ten million peoples' privacy invaded in this way.Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”

Well there we have it.
What can I say to that really? I suspect most members of society would be quite afraid of someone like that. Given the choice, they probably would rather you were not in their society. There is no doubt of one thing... they will sleep better knowing that your movements can be trackedAlways overestimating...0 -

Do you think?
I told my MP, they didn't think so. In fact they are equally against them and are fully supportive.
Several of my councilors also didn't think so.0 -
You know the funny thing about MPs and representatives... they tend to want to make you like them...Always overestimating...0

Really?
Have you ever contacted one? My experience, and i have contacted many, is that they dont beat about the bush. If they dont agree with you or dont want to help you they make it clear.
Do they generally ask questions in parliament just to get you to like them?0 -

All this says is that perhaps I have differing ideas on personal freedom.
I consider the DNA database, for people who have been convicted of serious crimes, a decent trade off between the freedoms of all people and the ability of the police to solve crimes.
I consider CCTV cameras in prisons the same. I think that an individual installing a camera that monitors his/her own garden is fair enough.
I think that cameras that have the potential to track the movement of all citizens are a step too far. There is no knowing what the Government will do with that information. I am not afraid of Government - I simply understand that they are people. Some people, given access to that kind of information, will use it for nefarious purposes.Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”

If someone could magically invent a camera which would only track the movements of criminals, I would have no problem with that.
The problem with these cameras is that they are a blunt instrument - they track everyone. And you're given no option to opt out of it.
I assume the poster who is so in favour of these cameras also signed up for an ID card before they were scrapped?0 -
But again and again you are ignoring policing. If you are not allowed to investigate someone, unless you know they are guilty, how do you find out if they are guilty?!
The conclusion to your line of thought is simply to do away with policing as we know it. There is no good way of catching criminals if innocent people all refuse to help. It is even worse when innocent people actually come out and say that they would rather there be murderers on the street than let the police try and keep them behind bars.Always overestimating...0
