Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 4th April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Yep your eyes aren't deceiving you, it is me, sleepless and stressed out of my head:(:(
OS wise God knows today, just feeling the need to "talk" to someone:o:o
Be back later:A

Good morning. Oh, Candygirl - I hope you manage to de-stress and catch up on your sleep. There's nothing worse than waking up feeling like that. I hope the rest of the day is better for you. I have the saying in your sig hanging up on my office wall - but I don't often apply it to the way I think!
Here, weather-wise it's shaping up to be a good day but whether I'll have the time to enjoy it is another matter. Life just seems to get busier and busier.
OS-wise meals today will be porridge for breakfast, cheese toasties for lunch and a lovely hand-raised pork pie from our local pig farm, which I will do with potatoes and salad, so quite and easy-food day.
I have to see the doctor at 4.45 this afternoon to renew my prescription for inhalers. Until our health care is sorted out, I will have to pay the doctor in full, and also full price for the inhalers, but I should be able to claim it back when our new health cards come through. I shall be glad when it's all sorted because we can't come back to the UK until we have our French equivalent of the EHIC to cover us for emergencies. The new baby is four weeks old tomorrow and, although seeing her on Skype is wonderful, I just want to cuddle her and the other grandchidren for real!
Well, I'm off to put the kettle on again.
I hope you all have a good day and that the weather is good, too.

Candygirl. we're all here - whats wrong?
Morning everyone. What a wild start to the day. Glad I didn't put up my mini greenhouse yesterday! It is really blowing a gale. Had lovely tea last night (quick left over stirfry from the pork on Sunday), and made three nice meatloaves. Will be rescuing the bananas today as they've gone over - so Banana and walnut cake for the after school starving hordes!
Tea tonight will be some lamb that I picked up reduced in Mr T. Have pile of ironing and washing to be done and hoovering to get through too. Have a wonderful day everyone - don't get blown away.Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

Morning all x
((hugs)) candy... hope you feel better soon x
Thank you for all those who said nice things about my weight loss yesterday, whoever asked how I did it... I hate to say but the first 3 stone was sensible eating and exercise for a year, then it was slowing down how fast I ate and eating in moderation and more exercise which lost me another 3 stone.... I gained after my second miscarriage, and found I had a condition which made me go on a special diet where I lost 2 stone more.
no magic formula, just stopped being obsessive about food moved more (with my knees the only exercise I can do is walking).... it all took 2.5 years to do.... which means it will stay off as it was low and steady x HTH
today I have the school run (2.5 mile walk), beds to strip, bedding to wash, working from home this morning, have to sew the afternoon, before walking the school run again.
hope you all have a great day xWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -

Good morning All.
Candygirl -sorry to hear you're feeling like this - hope things improve somewhat soon.
Yesterday saw me do my very first church school inspection - I can't tell you how nervous I was! Anyway, I had a really lovely day so maybe this'll be something I really can do!
DS was diagnosed with diabetes last week, which does help to explain why he's been feeling so dreadful in recent months - clearly not just the depression, but other causes too. I think it may take a while to get him properly stabilized but he already feels 100% better. He and DGD will be here for the school holidays. And yesterday we heard that DGD has got into their first choice primary school! We had thought she should - the really big thing was getting into the nursery school last year, but there was no absolute guarantee. I don't know, time was when it was just secondary school that was a "fingers crossed" time - now it's like it even for 4 year-olds!
When I first got up today it was dry, so washing is just on the final spin - and it's pouring down outside! mind, we really need lots of rain here, the ground is so dry. We had a couple of rainy days last week, but not nearly enough to make any difference.
Not sure what we'll be eating tonight - maybe there's enough beef left for cottage pie. Lunch will be homemade soup, cheese and biscuits.
Well I'm about to take some tea up to DH. Hope you all have a good day today. Do take care of yourselves, whatever you're up to.Resolution:

Happy Bday UOLYPOOL:D:D
