Yes, Maggie, you have to do 2 separate shop .

    1) for your dtd shop
    2) for you normal shop like vegetables, etc that are not on dtd.

If you combine you normal shop with the dtd items you will loose out big time!!!

Going to stick my neck out here and say that this to me proves the point that we are abusing the system - as if you catually did your normal shop you are saying that you wouldn't get anything back i.e. Mr A would not be that much / any cheaper.

The system / their offer is that your regular shopping would be cheaper than Mr A. What we are doing is purposefully buying the most expensive items and ignoring the good offers and cheaper items.

Not wanting to start an argument and I am doing this along with everyone else, but I think it's fair to say that this isn't really "in the spirit of the promotion" :o

Oh my goodness! My 19.30 shop fitted in 1 carrier and I didn't even have any lamb! Not sure how Tesco get away with it!

I mucked up and bought 2 Frey Bentos pies instead of 1 but should be ok as I bought a couple of overpayers - 2 packs of cornettos and tinned salmon so my next voucher shouldn't be down too much.

I couldn't find Sunny D on A website....am I just being dense? Hubs had requested it to relive his teenage years (no wonder he has so many fillings)
If my words are missing letters then please excuse me....my keyboard is a tad dodgy!!

When you guys say N/F what do you mean? Surely if something IS cheaper is Asda they have to refund double the difference and you can say that?

I don't know about everyone else, but the novelty is definately wearing off for me. I'm still DTD'ing but only trying to compare things that I actually need rather than random things I don't. It does take up an awful lot of time. I think I will just do one DTD a week and then use the voucher towards my normal shop, which should be slightly smaller due to items already stocked up on, so I still think I will be saving. TBH I've seen several posts where people have said "I've spent so much money, not sure I'm doing it right" The thing is you do have to speculate to accumulate in this offer - I know I've certainly spent more money than I would have done normally. On balance, I do think it's a good deal but you have to be very serious to want to do it all day every day, but if you do pick up a few DTD's here and there and get only £20 voucher per week - towards a weekly shop, that's a big help.

I agree with what you are saying here. I've thought about giving it up once or twice but have been drawn back in by the possible savings .... its like some sort of drug :rotfl:

I think because I'm buying things on DTD that will be a long term saving like stocking up on shampoo, conditioners, body moisturisers, body wash, other health and beauty and personal hygiene things that you don't normally buy every week consistantly that the savings aren't noticable immediately.

I hope in the months to come though, that I shall notice difference and it'll be worth all the effort. Its like someone else said - you have to speculate to accumulate with this offer and it doesn't come without some effort first. Think you've got to work it best to your own circumstances though and not get too carried away because it could start 'costing' alot of money.

In view of the article on the mail website and the upcoming watchdog i couldnt really care less.

As a shopper i like to take advantage of offers, and that is all i am doing with the price check promotion.

Possible Single Malt Scotch Whisky DTD bargain (unconfirmed) for whisky fans:

Isle of Jura 10 Year Old Malt Whisky 70CL

    T: 28.29 / A: 18.00 / D: 10.29 / DTD: 20.00

(Only the 10 y/o, does not apply to Jura "Superstition" or "16 y/o".)

This is my one of my favourite whiskies - its had a nice warming honey style to it, with delicate peaty notes - but not at all harsh. It falls at the lighter end of the scale (a good thing to many). I thoroughly recommend it - stock up for Hogmanay! Will report back my DTD success or otherwise tomorrow hopefully.
