I've been comping for a whole three weeks now! 112 comps entered (no prizes yet but it's still early) I'm looking forward to the first post I can make thanking the OP on the "I won, I won, I won" thread
I was going through the Postal/Text/Phone thread and it got me thinking... so you can add the "No info" to the bottom of a text to stop spam texts but what about postal entries? Does anyone find they get postal or telephone spam by doing postal comps? I guess it'd take a lot of work to go through all the entries jotting down people's info but that kind of data can be valuable.
Also are there guidelines in place for them to detroy the entries?0 -
Welcome to the boards
To be honest, if anyone is paranoid about not getting unwanted, emails/post, then comping isn't the right hobby to choose in my opinion. You can be careful about which boxes you tick/untick, but some don't give you that option. Looking at it logically, if every one of us elected not to have further contact, 1. We wouldn't hear about half of the comps running and they wouldn't be posted for us and 2. There wouldn't be any incentive for the Companies running the comps to do it in the first place.

I have just entered this week's Take a Break and it got me thinking so I posted this below...
I was wondering if many MSE users have won much via take a break? The reason I ask is because I was told today (maybe I am slow lol) that websites can find out where you came from before you enter their comp! So in comps like this, Take a Break would know I came from MSE and therefore they may well think I did not buy their mag and did not complete the puzzles myself! I am now worrying that other sites might think the same and discard our entries ans they know we have shared answers etc. What are your thoughts? I'll post on the discussions board too a not sure I should post this here? x
Hmm, I am sure this is quite possible but my logical head says that the mags just wouldn't have the time to go through the thousands of entries they get to check where people had entered from. I don't think I will let it worry me!

But then logically they wouldn't have to check thousands, just the ones that were pulled as winnersLuck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

hiya, you can add NO FURTHER CONTACT on your postcard/postal entries on a lot of the postal compsplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
Just a quick question for you experts (I'm still a bit of a newbie to this!) If a comp doesn't specifically say in the T&Cs that the prize is non transferable then are you usually able to give it to someone else? Holiday comps are mostly no good for me (4 children aged 8 and under!) but I see ones that my Mum and Dad would love and don't know if it's worth entering anyway to be able to pass it on to them if I ever won one. Does that make any sense?!0

Why not enter it in their names? Unless the comp says 'No third party entries' that's what I do for my daughter.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

Hi, Just wondering who authorises access to the text/phone comps over a certain amount that are posted on a different board. I have applied to become a member but have been waiting a while to be authorised?0
