  • I don't know iwannabeonthebeach :A that's the problem, I don't know how end daters do it, so if they do 'sort by end date' rather than 'search by end date' then this wouldn't help :(

I sort into end date order but too, but searching on the day for things like the one day only ones is a good alternative to having to look through all of the next days comps just to make sure there's none with the wrong end date in the title :D (I've seen a few that haven't had (00.01) after the date so not come across them until after they've ended :() although it would only really work if they're posted that way on the day they end as they would be on the first page of the search so don't take much looking for, but when they're sometimes posted that way and end weeks or months in the future it wouldn't really be that easy to find them via search, unless a search for 00.01 would throw them all up? Will have to try that later when I've got a bit more time.

Of course if we all knew that all comps were only going to be moved over after the end date in the title, we wouldn't have any of these problems to try and solve anyway! :o

I sort by end date rather than search by end date too....but would happily search instead if everyone would post in the same way so I'd only have to run one search not loads to catch every variation of the tag iyswim?

Could the Daily Handbag Comp not have it's own thread on the main board like the puzzler and Asda comps

    Title:
UPDATED MONDAY - Daily Handbag Comp

the true end dates could then be included in the title but the thread would never be sent to GAME OVER with the post just being bumped every Monday with the new prize details

the comp would be easy to find from the main page by selecting the display option Thread Title\Descending\Beginning

just a thought not quite sure how feasible it would be or if it could be extended to all One Day only comps

    Title
UPDATED REGULARLY - One Day only comps

with the comps being tagged repost in the body to show via search that the comp needs to be updated on a certain day

maybe the repost tag could be also be extended to all comps that need reposting on a regular basis as a reminder to repost and also so that the comp isn't lost when they are moved to GAME OVER (tags could be)

    repostdaily
    repostweekly
    repostmonthly
    repostbiweekly
    repostquarterly
    repostyearly

    repostmonday
    reposttuesday
    repostwednesday
    repostthursday
    repostfriday
    repostsaturday
    repostsunday

just a thought don't know how feasible the above would be and whether it would work in practice ;)

I have already tagged one monthly comp just search repostmonthly

    Can anyone help?

what is the correct way to post an ongoing monthly comp with no fixed end date where you have to enter every month?

I am really confused as Glad say's in NEW GUIDELINES: Major Changes to Comp Posting- Read Before Posting

I was going to post a comp in the regulars as E: MONTHLY (ONGOING) but I noticed that there is no longer any monthly ongoing comps there

so I have posted the comp on the main board as E: 30/04 Win a JetRest brand new Luxury Travel Comfort Kit (refer a friend)

I have also added the tag repostmonthly to show via search that the comp needs to be posted every month
please could someone advise if this is correct and ok! ;)

Update: I have PM'd glad to take a look at my post to see if it is ok and for clarification

    you've posted it correctly :)

after the big discussion it seemed people wanted all monthly entry comps posted on the main board as a new comp each month

the only 'monthly' comps on the regs board now are the sign up for newsletter types where you can only sign up/register once and they are now posted as E: ONCEONLY

I want to let you in to something I've been testing for a few days regarding the problem I have in particular with say the Daily Mail Handbag comp that I post up on a Monday (which is only live until midnight that night). Due to having it put in game over by mid-morning usually I post it up with the next day (00:01) and have always been aware that it is not ideal for end date compers. This week I put it up and asked for pm's from end daters and with the help of bargainhuntergal I tested over a couple of days what I was trying to do.

Basically I put next day (00:01) in the header but in the main body I put hidden text (like we do for guessedenddate) for the true date, and because the board guides (I presume) use title header but end daters use say search E: **/** it should suit everyone.

I have tried it this morning on my nuts post, I hid something specific and did a search (I've taken it out now) and it picked it up :T

I will do this from now on with any strange end date ones, and thought it might be something others may want to incorporate :j

I've been moving the comps to GO for the last couple of weeks, doing it as MSE Andrea recently asked ie not moving until a comp is over so this shouldn't be a problem any more :)

I only move comps ending the previous day, if I'm still up after midnight (and I usually am lol) I do them then, otherwise I do them when I get in from work every day, which does mean that sometimes expired comps are still on the main board for half a day :)

In theory I like the idea of this, but in practice you sometimes find that a 'chat' gets going in these threads and you have pages where there's no comp details at all. You're scrolling for ages going back through everything.

Thanks Glad :A the original link we tried for the Daily Mail Handbag is still live in the weekly thread so that's fine, so I'll carry on putting it on the main board like I've been doing then :T
