I have just returned to comping after a break of just a few months, had so much going on something had to give and it was comping unfortunately.
Last year this board was one of the most friendly & supportive on the site, to both it's new and longstanding members. It's such a shame to return to see so many people upset, I hope it doesn't become like some of boards where you post at your peril and therefore many people stop posting, as everyone will miss out as fewer comps will be found and posted especially the more obscure ones.
I hope people old & new, feel happy and able to carry on and everyone can work together, some of the longstanding members bring more than just posting regular competitions, they are able to advise and guide new compers and can normally spot and scam or spam site a mile off.
Happy Comping & Good Luck everyone!!:hello:0 -

Anyway happy comping, hope you win lots
Lots if us have regular sites that we post from & I must admit to liking this status quo,in the main.
I have trangressed this "status quo" in the past but tend not to very often nowadays.I have often sent personal messages to regular posters of certain sites to alert them of new comps.I now post from some sites that certain people have stated that that is their wish.
But as AlMac says "see it,search it,post it" & lots live by that mantra.
Sites that I often post from have been posted from as you describe but maybe that's just how it is.Maybe I'm on here too much but I tend to be able to keep on top of my usual sites. If I do not I see that as not too much of an issue as the membership still gets a shot at the comp.
When I started on here I'm sure that I encroached on others,as maybe you did.I think that's just how it usually works until one gets the feel of the board.
Personally I am just desirous of a harmonious board with lots of comps & friendly banter.
Re winning lots I must say not really.Maybe I'm spending too long posting comps & not entering them :-)0 -

Maybe I'm wrong but I do get the feeling that you would have liked me to cease posting as you described earlier ?0 -
But as AlMac says "see it,search it,post it"
maybe that was years ago, good for peeps who just like to enter random posts/comps/don't follow through reg comps/have on contacts to follow/
respect for the regular compers that keep up all the regular competitions to be posted,
it's ok to encourage new peeps by saying
"see it,search it,post it"
to post comps but it's also decent to respect the ops who search/post to give us the reg comps, a simple search finds majority of the sites/comps posted by regsplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -

As I say I have sent personal messages but sometimes had no reply or been rebuffed.I have then posted.
At the moment I can think of a couple of posters that are really tucking into established posters sites but nobody has voiced an objection to this.We are all prepared to enter but not not shout up any issues. Are we too shy or following Al Macs mantra?
The majority of regulars on here know who post each site.0 -
I agree with both sides Korky but it's an open forum. Some new members do not search via the short domain.I know that some must & still post but we are constantly evolving. What are are we to to,especially when a regular posters misses a comp, with short end date

There is also the fact that if one desires to declare ownership of a site you must be on here on a regular basis. For example if I have a two week holiday I ask others to post my usual sites. If not how can I complain if others post them?
Just by looking at the usual sites we can all see when a regular poster is been "pushed out".I've yet to see an online objection just lots of thanks. How are are we to play it?
I've no idea really but I not think MARTINS DOLL is correct in that the vibe has gone.We are just different from a few years back.0 -
It's quite ironic, I feel, when the vibe of the site is mentioned but at the same time someone is questioned and re-questioned on what they have chosen to do? That, to me, doesn't really help the vibe any? Sorry, it's just a personal opinion but that's the way it came across to me when reading as an 'outsider' but maybe there's more to it than meets the eye?
Edited to add: I hope the above doesn't sound too bad, what I meant is that if something else has gone on elsewhere and that's why these comments have been made, for people not 'in the know' about it it's not great as it feels very uncomfortable to read.
I also thought that everything had calmed down on the forum in the past couple of weeks, but it feels like every time it settles down, something (anything) is mentioned and it has the opportunity to all start up again, I really hope that doesn't happen to the same extent as previously this time as it does no one any good.
Re: Posting comps - this is part of the reason I don't tend to, because I'm absolutely terrified of stepping on people's toes as I know sometimes (Edited to add: Very occasionally - although you never know when it could happen) that people can be quite harsh (or maybe more like quite snippy about it?) when they think you've posted one of 'their' competitions, I've seen it before and I don't want that to happen to me as I'm quite sensitive and it's likely to upset me
I can understand that it's frustrating if literally every single comp has been posted by one person, that should show up via search, but does everyone need to PM the last poster of a site everytime they find one to post incase they wanted to post it instead? I do actually generally try to do this if there's enough time left before the end date (I did post one of weeowen's sites 'Copella' at the time weeowen's posted about having a break, but PM'ed after posting just to mention I'd posted it and hope it was ok, and that was fine.) but sometimes it just feels easier not to post if you have to PM every single person every single time, just so you don't get blamed
It's the reason I've waited so long to go through the monthlies to make sure they're all on, I figured that by now if it's not been posted, it's not likely to be posted by anyone else being so close to the end of the month, so I'm safe(ish) to post, hopefully.0 -

don't think it's a 'declare ownership' of a site, just that they reg search/post the comps to put on,
i do think if the reg ops are peeved of with others posting thier reg comps they should post thier opinions on here saying so, not just 'go quiet' & stop posting, unless they're not realy bothered, suppose at the end of the day they can't be all that bothered if they don't say why they've stopped postingplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
