I was just wondering if it is time to start a seperate page for all the facebook comps. Personally i cant be bothered with having to 'like' a page then get LOADS of posts on my facebook page. And at the moment it can take quite a while to look through all the comps and find the ones i want to enter.
If its just me then please ignore, however if anyone else feels the same can it bve looked at please

A lot of people, including me, will probably agree with you but in a massive discussion on Comps Board organisation that took place at the end of last year and went on for several months until Feb/March this year, MSE Andrea specifically ruled out any question of a separate Facebook/Twitter board. Many people agreed with this ruling, saying that a comp is a comp no matter whether it is on a website, facebook or twitter.
It was decided that the best thing was to add FB/Twitter/Blog into titles and it would certainly help if people would do this.0 -
I have a separate facebook for comping with no friends on. I know you aren't meant to have a 2nd one but I know a lot of friends who have 2.0

This is like when they said that horseless carriages wouldn't take off.
The web moves very fast, and only the totally blind would say that Facebook and other social networks aren't alreay within a year from that past discussion taking over this area.
It is now useless to just add FB or Twitter to the titles...as anyone who uses these networks will know already.
Here's why.
What are the best comps? Newer companies, either to FB or to the web...which always includes FB now.
Where is it easiest for them to run a comp...same answer.
Cheaper too, with less hassle, no coding and less chance of error.
The BIG problem for us though is none of that...when a company sets up a comp, on normal sites it's got an end date....on FB it's often within hours. 100 likes, 200 likes, man...we do that just from MSE and Loqax...by the time it's posted here and someone sees it, it's over. This week alone I've seen several on here where that happened. It's a complete waste of time posting them at all. Worse than useless because if it's a low entry comp like a "100 likes" one...you know you missed a good chance to win simply because you were on here doing another comp tha could have waited.
IF the massive step of making a section just for FB etc was taken...(such a massive effort?)..people would know to go there 1st to check for comps needing attention fast, they could also find other FB friends via the posters. No other way makes sense at all. It even suits the ones who don't so Facebook, they could avoid it easily then. Personally as I said a year ago, if you don't do FB I don't think you will be doing much comping in the near future. They haven't really started yet as far as companies are concerned....and news feeds can easily be set to not show what companies post now so none of that will annoy anyone.
Blogs...some use FB, some twitter, I'd like to avoid them too...they are a lot of messing about. Sadly I have to admit they are the best way to win anything right now, low entry and possible multi entry if you are keen. I've won quit a lot from them and I avoid most of them. Irritating to admit lol
MSE needs to do what it is here for, adapt to the changes, or just stick as it is and gradually become less useful. Bear in mind that when comps are happening so fast on FB and over in hours, if the FB using members drop off here...the comps won't get posted at all and they won't miss out because they get it on there in time from mates.
I would also love to see the word "vote" next to anything that involved that kind of thing...often it's not clear until you wasted a lot of time and most people aren't fans of voting comps on FB or anywhere else are they?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Is anyone else finding Facebook is being silly this morning? So may pages (e.g. Appliances online, Kleenex, Fabulous, anchor) are just throwing up blank pages on the competition tabs. Tried refresh, clearing cookies etc.
Were fine earlierWorse things will have happened in the world today..."The only thing that really matters, it to love and to be loved."0 -
I often get that grannybiker, the page is just dark for me then i have to refresh it and it comes up ok.Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!0

fb keeps freezing on me , but is esp bad today...My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly
Our Precious Baby Tianna has now joined our Family, she is much loved and very welcome, xxx0 -

Lots of companies run competitions for Christmas that typically (but with some variations) are daily entry from 1st to 24th December - just like an advent calendar! There are so many that they would overwhelm the standard daily thread, so the advent thread is set up for these.
The competitions should be posted on the main board as normal (eg. Prezzo from last year) with questions/answers posted in it daily. A link to the competition is posted in the advent thread (eg. Prezzo again - see post #511). The volunteer maintaining the thread - fnc63 this year - updates an index of all these competitions at the top of the advent thread (see last year's - brilliantly done by toniq).0 -
Hi timmers,
Re your post at #1688, you are obviously very strongly pro Facebook/Twitter and if you feel so strongly that a separate Facebook board is required, perhaps you should make a case to MSE Towers perhaps by PM to MSE Andrea.
Personally, I am also in favour of separating Facebook/Twitter/Blog threads but not so that I can find them easier, more that I can ignore them easier and get through the normal comps a bit quicker.
I am not a fan of Facebook (maybe it's an age/generation thing) but it does seem that if you want to take comping seriously then you've got to take part. I only "dabble" on Facebook/Twitter and would find it much better to get through the web site comps quickly on one board and then "dabble" on a Facebook/Twitter board.
However, from a MSE point of view, the Competitions Board is only a small part of the overall site and maybe they don't want to see it expanding and growing in importance against the rest of the site by increasing the number of boards/sub-boards.
If the words FACEBOOK and/or TWITTER were included in all thread titles or posts, as appropriate, anyone wishing to see these separately, would be able to search on the word in the same way that "guessedenddate" is being used.0
