Annie did say that the dog has already been checked for a chip and none was found?

Whatever the outcome, I hope the dog gets better soon and is happily settled in either her old home (assuming her owners are nice and just lost her, rather than didn't bother about her) or with Annie and Monty

Its pretty hard to say ALL avenues have been explored to rehome the dog just 24 hours after it was found....if it was me I woudln't be getting too attched (and definately not letting the children think of it as thier pet) just yet as there is plenty of time for its rightful owner to reclaim it.

    Redlady hi

Yes she is a pedigree but the vet and an excellent reputable one at that scanned for a microchip and she didnt have one, also she was only given iinto our care after we proved who we were, and signed that she will be returned to said owners.

In this area the dog kennels for strays are NOT very nice and no Im not knocking them they do a wonderful job EVERYTHING is above board, but she was getting distressed when away from Monty and as she has taken a liking to us, plus Monty has in the past helped this particular vet out by taking in the odd dog till the owner has been found, the vet felt that she was better of with us short term than in kennels fretting..so home she came.

We know she will be claimed, as we are pretty near the M6 and the M6 Toll Road were asuming she may have escaped from a car whilst the family were perhaps going on holiday or maybe moving house, particularly as there is a Motorway Service Station about 3 miles away over the fields, it might take 48 hrs for her details to get circulated, but she will be reunited with her family Im sure but for now shes safe warm happy, and no way would we keep her she is I can assure you safe and well.

Maybe I have read your post in the wrong way and if I have then I apologise for that but if I lost a dog Id hope someone like us would come forward and help like we have..

    just added

rachbc at no time have we said to Lucy that the poodle is here for keeps she knows she is as said to her "on holiday" with us till her mummy comes for her, and Lucy is happy with that..in the right time the details of the dog will go out to wider areas, all I can do is keep her safe, and fingers crossed her owners are found ..

    thanks Annie56

I have been away for a few days and hope to get up to the date with the thread today.

I was in Glasgow for a long weekend visiting an old friend. It was lovely to get away from the madhouse. The boys and dh looked after the garden well. My growhouse was wrecked though, not sure if it was the wind or a cat jumping off the fence onto it. They managed to save most of my plants. I am dismantling to growhouse today. I have bought another one made of would and hard plastic. I can't wait for dh to put it together tomorrow. I was amazed how many weeds can pop up in such a short space of time. I will be in the garden all day today.

Grey Queen, thanks for the details on the milk bottles. I have inserted them in the ground and then planted the courgette plants. I am waiting on some more plants including comfrey and strawberries. Next weekend is my Introduction to Permaculture course. I am looking forward to it.

We got one of those Energy Smart readers from British Gas. It certainly focuses the mind when you see what your usage is. Youngest ds checks the reader then goes off to turn off anything not needed.

I plan to do some baking this afternoon. I haven't done any baking in ages and want to banish all the shop bought biscuits in the house.

I hoep everyone has a good weekend.

Just de-lurking to suggest some unusual rhubarb combos that might work...as in, make in small batches to see if they work.
    Rhubarb and cardamon
Rhubarb and elderflower (works very well with gooseberries, so might work with rhubarb)
    Rhubabrb and rose petal
    Rhubarb and orange
    Hope that helps.

P.S I think that you are doing a wonderful job looking after Chantelle. :)

My OS battle continues. Went to Netto for a change plus hoping to save money but spent the same as I usually do although did stock up on beans and tinned toms as they have good offer on those two items.

Went to a high street that is charity shop heaven, has the chains and independent ones. Got loads of stuff some of it still with original price tags on and all decent makes for Primarni prices. Spent £20 but got work trousers, skirt, 4 tops and pair of Next trousers for DD. Also got DD a pair of snow boots from Ethel Austins for £3!! Purple and fur lined, fab. Have put them away with her new winter coat and jamas (I like to be organised :rotfl:)

Re: lost dogs. My mums pedigree dog is microchipped which cost plus I think you may have to pay a yearly fee to be on the database so maybe owners can not afford it although if you can afford hundreds of pounds for a dog you would think that microchipping would be a musthave.
I have every possession I want. I have a lot of friends who have a lot more possessions. But in some cases I feel the possessions possess them, rather than the other way round

Annie, when I used to work for a local newspaper group in England they used to place "found pet" ads for free. Might be worth giving the local newspaper a ring as it's likely they'll offer the same service.

GQ, food prices in England continue to make me jealous despite your recent price increases. I'm trying to buy less "fillers" and more fruit and veg to drop a little weight, and the prices are just astounding. Even buying what it in season, reduced to clear or on special I'm really struggling. I only buy cauliflower when it's reduced to clear, then it's around 75-90p for half.

You don't pay an annual fee for the microchipping, you just need to remember to tell them if you move house :)

I had forgotten that, when we moved here we registered our dog at my mums address knowing we would be moving again, of course when we eventaully get to our new place I need to remember to switch it back to us. :)
