Trifles lovely to hear from you, its nice here isn't it
Shergar, Im so pleased that you are at last getting some support, your doctor has a lovely way of putting things. My old Gp thought that personal visits were good for patients and used to come to see me with his 2 boxer dogs and gifts of chutney including the recipe - mind you that was many years ago. Those Nonnymouses have a way of lifting your spirits don't they
ChocClare will go and find that recipe now for you and post it tomorrow.Clearing the junk to travel light

Shegar, glad you are feeling up to posting again.
We had cabbage from our garden with our tea last night, woo hoo, I'm so excited.
Hugs Hester

Shegar - so glad to hear things are going in the right direction for you both and you are getting green shoots.
Trifles - How lovely to see you posting. Well done on affording your computer, enjoy
Ceridwen - is the course by your namesake?
GQ - Hope the great watering can tips over your lottie today.

Nope...just one of our new Lets members (hence the paying in part £s, part Lets credits).
Think she must be a new-ish practitioner. 'Twas thought when Lets was designed that, amongst other things, newbie alternative therapists could get peeps to practice on as they learnt (and just charge Lets Credits) and "get a toehold" when they had recently started on the other hand. So sure 'nuff - we do tend to have a lot of trainee and newbie alternative therapists in our various groups (I am SO politically incorrect arent I? - must remember they are called "complementary therapists" these days - not "alternative therapists". Naughty ceridwen - who basically regards them as alternative therapists and doesnt wish to go any nearer to "conventional medicine" than she can possibly help). I'm much more likely personally to reach for my books than call a doctor if I get ill...:D.
Reminds self - look up breathlessness ceridwen...getting that a bit too often for my liking at the moment - but I suspect 'tis a "stress ailment" rather than a "real" one iyswim...so 'twill just go if I wait it out...0 -
Morning all
Just a quick post to say Ive added a footnote to my original post re Chantelle the poodle, she had a good night, with a couple of toilet breaks and she is well.
EVERY avenue has been covered to find her owner, police, vets local and further afield, local pet rescues, pet finders everything we can think off and today some posting in shop windows etc, Im sure she wont be with us long but if she is she can be assured of a forever home but Im sure she is bieng sadly missed somewhere and if our efforts are matched by her owners she wont be with us long..
Sorry if my gung ho type of posting made some of you think I was bieng flippant re the dog, I sometimes forget that whats comical to me may not be to some others, right Im off to give Mr Monty his brekkie thats :cool:if I can wean him off his new love...if ever a man and a dog were matched they are,but he knows it might only be a temporary love affair:rotfl:
You all take care everyone and hope the sun shines for us all today..keep well.. till laters

We had rain yesterday, a very, very light shower for about 10 mins then it was back to business as usual which is going to be about 21 degrees again today. Sigh.
silvermaid thank you for wishing celestial watering cans on me, I'd love nothing better but I suspect it'll be grunt labour as per usual tonight; bathwater is tanked and ready to go. I'm absolutely cream-crackered and would love a night off but I didn't go last night and things are frying gently in the dust up there, so needs must.
My broad beans have come into flower at 10-12 inches tall, they'll obviously keep growing and putting on additional flower brackets (sorry, not a botanist, this is wrong term, but you know what I mean) but I doubt they'll be the nearly-5 footers of last year unless the drought ends soon. Had such a bumper crop in 2010 and shan't see the like this year, methinks. I will have a soak and sowing of the second batch of broadbeans and have to think about where I'll out batch 2 of the loo roll peas which have just germinated in the h.m. plastic greenhouse. They only really good thing is that the slugs are nowhere to be seen. I mean, I found one hiding under a broadleaved plant when I cleared some weeds but I gave that a swift death with a trowel and haven't seen another. The first year I had this lottie (2008) it was nighmarish as there were so many shaggy areas hosting these humungous ginger-coloured slugs which were 4 inches long used to venture out from the jungle at night and scoff the plants. And my lottie site is crawling with toads and frogs, the lazy little so-and-so's. They should get munching. But, looking at the size of the frogs versus the size of the slugs, it'd be like us eating a sofa.:rotfl:
Shegar good to see you back and posting, I'd been wondering how you were getting on. ((Hugs)).
Food prices are getting absolutely wicked, how do they expect people on benefits or the retired to manage these increases as well as those in utility bills? It'll soon be cheaper to rent a wee apartment on the Costa for the winter than pay the utility bills. Flying south for the winter, anyone?
Mind you, thanks to a tip from iris I did get up to Sainsbugs after work yesterday and stock up on sultanas at 68p/ 500g but there were hardly any left. Have shared the tip with Mum back in the home town and she'll look for some. She and Dad have been retired a few years and manage nicely but Mum is having to shop strategically at various different stores, not just there nearest which is a Sains.
Re cauliflowers, I was talking veg with my greengrocer last week and he told me that some cauli is going as high as £1.60 WHOLESALE. He won't buy at that price because he's in quite a poor area of the inner city and no one will pay that, never mind he put a wee mark-up on it. He also said the cauli is nearly over which is why the things are looking a bit tragic. I loathe the blimmin' stuff personally as it upsets my gut for several hours, so never personally buy it.
Food budget spent this week £3.59 weight-loss nil but zero chocolate since 01/05 so it'll have to shift eventually.
Well, feeling weary enough to crawl back into my pit and go to sleep but must reactivate brain (more TEA, nurse, we're losing her!) then hie me off to work for a few hours.Hope everyone has a great day, even those who've had my rain.:p
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Annie56 You could also try putting it in the 'found dogs' bit of https://www.doglost.co.uk as they will try and match it with any dogs registered with them as lost.
If Monty really is smitten with the idea of having a poodle of his ownthen you can google poodle rescue and contact one of the rescue societies to rehome a poodle in need.
Of course if no-one claims her, then you can keep her knowing you have done the right thing. Hopefully the owner will come forward and also reimburse you for the cost of the veterinary treatment. If it was me I would also be showering you with rose petals and chocolates and kissing your feet in gratitude!:rotfl:Aspire not to have more but to be more.

This is not a Heinz 57 we are talking about here. It is a pedigree and so will be chipped and most likely registered with the KC before being sold. It will have cost someone a pretty penny. I sincerely hope she finds her way home soon. I am surprised the vets let you take her home too. Here they keep them for a week before they go for rehoming and only then you get the chance to take them.
Shegar - lovely to see you again. The only way is up now and mad kale bird, well you are a soppy old sod!:D
