I know this will sound mad, and probably is mad, but!! - we have a gorgeous 10" high paraffin lamp that OH got from his mum many years ago when they had a caravan without mains elect. It's very pretty, all glass. I got him to dig it out of the shed and clean it up and it makes a lovely ornament ...Hmmm. maybe its wasted as an ornament and would be nice in one's bog?
(one's bog which overlooks only fields and therefore one's neighbours will not think one canny pay the bill)...
That sounds lovely. Won't it keep the chill off in the winter too and prevent things freezing - your things as well as the house things.
Just on a note of caution - I have collected my 5 brown fleecy blankets at lunch time. You should have seen the looks I got..... could see the thought processes ticking over ..... does she know something I don't, or is she bonkers?0 -
Larumbelle - so pleased for you. If anyone was gossiping, you'll be v old news soon enough. It's great that you got a warm welcome from colleagues and maybe those in your team will notice and start to behave a bit more like human beings! Good you for. I will be sending very positive thoughts your way tomorrow.
Well the soup I made yesterday is bl**dy awful. Why did I think it would be good to add those spices? So, being frugal an' all:money: I'm going to freeze it in small portions marked 'horrible soup', no maybe something more positive - 'soup for tweaking' and I'll add it to things like curries, stews, more normal soups etc. I'm not throwing it out that's for sure. The gammon I roasted at the same time as the chicken is lovely though - thanks for the advice. Anyone know how long it will keep in the fridge? I'll slice it and freeze it at some point but at the moment DH is really enjoying it.
Went to MrM and got petrol and got my £5 voucher. It takes ages to get one now as we rarely use the car so that's good. Just bought the 3 things I needed - beetroot (can't get DH to move down a brand from Baxters but he has moved with most things so I allow this!), bio natural yoghurt (55p for a big pot) and a box of dog biscuits. I did browse other things and could have put them in my basket but didn't as I knew I'd have to add them to my grocery challenge total! This site saves me so much money.
Have good days all

Skint but Optimistic - thanks very much; the F11 thing doesn't work but holding Fn while typing the letter does which means I can write sense. Thanks too to everyone else for your suggestions.
If my keyboard ever goes funny it's normally because someone has "accidentally" adjusted the language options so I just go to Control Panel - Regional & Language Options and change everything to "English United Kingdom".Dum Spiro Spero0 -
Larumbelle I am so pleased things are going better for you, hopefully things will settle down and you will settle back in quickly.

What seems to have happens to me alot, where you brush your keyboard and the main number lock comes on. I worked in technical support for years and that was what it usually was.
I could be wrong and if its a language thing I apologise, its just with being the mixture of numbers and letters I presumed it was that.
wmf this site is great isnt it?

SBO - I've tried all F Keys, but no luck, many thanks.
BTW I've got a question for all you frequenters of high class establishments - this afternoon I'm going to a 5* hotel for afternoon tea, courtesy of a raffle win by a colleague. I just want to check -is plain, common or garden, monkey tea called 'black tea'? It's what I've always known it as, but I don't want to look a complete eejit.0 -
it is I think, as opposed to green tea or red tea.
If you want to message me the make and model of your laptop I will get an answer for you mrswife - by this afternoon xTrying to shift that debt!0 -

mrswive they are most likely to call it breakfast tea. But just ask for tea, they will either offer you options, or they will bring you "normal" tea.
