Report on the sausage/leek casserole + CC's dauphinoise potatoes ...

Lovingly cooked small black lumps of charcoal similar to stuff found in a Bronze Age kist on Time Team .... sauteeed in bits of dark greeny-black pond weed......and served with gooey soggy semi-liquidy dollops of unknown tasteless white stuff .
Wonderful! must have that one again soon.

I'm not thanking her anymore in case she invites me for dinner.

Thinking about it, she could sell this recipe to M & S for a large fee.

Today I am thinking. ............. wondering if I should do away with my batteries of lovely Ikea spotlights to save elect? We try not to use them very much but in winter it meant a lot of faffing about in the dark and flicking switches on & off for two seconds - bit mad but they cost me money and they look lovely. The kitchen has 5 halogen lights, the bathroom has 4, the hall has 5 -Blackpool !!:D
But the price of elect isnt going to go down, is it, and we are trying to get the bill as low as poss. We use coal heating and calor cooking, now its war on the electricity in the Mard hoose ;)

Not sure if anyone has answered coz I thought I'd better post before I forget! :o

We had an electrician here last week sorting a few points out for us, & he said he's just done his whole house out with LEDs in place of those spots (we asked coz we have them too! AND the price of the bulbs!) at something like 18w worth of LEDs for a whole room!

Sounds like a brilliant idea! I will be investigating - but just thought I'd pass it on in case it's any use!

Well a quick g00gle gave me http://www.ledlightingsupplier.co.uk/ - and there's LOADS more sites too. Certainly looks very interesting.

I need to do something here - I obtained (:rotfl:) a full box of the low energy bulbs when they first came out & the bulbs are so big most of my lights are now shade-less; although as the light quality is so poor compared to the old type bulbs that's not really so bad if you actually want to SEE things!

Might be the next job after the kitchen is finished - now how shall I break that to the OH?! :D

Edit - Crikey! They're a bit pricey! May wait a wee while................

scottishminnie I have a very very strong suspicion I know the sales assistant to whom you refer, I am :rotfl: at this and trying to tell my sister about it on the phone, who tells me she has tears of laughter rolling down her face. Thank you so much for that! If you haven't read elsewhere on the board, my sister's OH has just been diagnosed with cancer, and she is struggling badly with the news, so anything which makes her smile is heaven sent. :)
