Morning all!
Didn't sleep a wink again. Nevermind eh?
My desk assessment is 10am, before that I am going to nip to the shopping centre to pick up today's New Look £1 offer. I was well impressed at yesterday's dress, and on the way past the charity shop I found a new pair of jeans on their £1 rail too. At this rate I should have a brand new wardrobe
I am going to take photos of my desk (discreetly) and also mark my chair. I am also going to do an assessment sitting and one standing. I'm proper nervy about going into the office actually, I daresay the gossips have been out in force. Oh well, got to be done...
Softstuff, that sounds very painful. I do hope you and the bra are okay!
Huge hugs :grouphug: to everyone, I hope you all have a good day xx0 -
LARUMBELLE
Good luck today. Correct that the gossips have probably had a field day - but I always think gossiping and b*tching is a sign of an empty life and even emptier mind (wherever the gossiping is taking place). I've frequently noticed that those who have something to contribute contribute it - and, if you watch and notice, you see that those who are doing the gossiping/b*tching never actually seem to "contribute" anything worthwhile (just a lot of empty chitter-chatter - rarely actually anything helpful).
Let us know how it went later.0 -
Morning everyone :hello:
Softstuff.... OUCH! _pale_
Just popping in to pass on the news that mummysaver, who you will remember from posting regularly on the last thread has given birth to her fifth child :T. She's a fab OS mum so this new little girl is very lucky. Well done honey.:j:D

Morning all and thanks for the avatar madness; have been giggling to myself as I spotted all the versions of the "Keep Calm....." poster. I chose it to be my avatar because I kept bumping into it in the RW and it always made me smile.
Larumbelle best of luck for today. There are desks which can rise and fall on motors to accomodate the worker sitting or standing because a colleague at my previous workplace had one and that was more than 5 years ago. He had a back condition which made it very painful to sit for too long. They got it specially for him and we had to re-arrange the open plan office which we all shared to accomodate it, but neither the employer nor the rest of us had any issues. We were a non-for-profit and very staff-friendly (and they got good staff in return). I think it cost circa £1,700.
I had an occy health assessment prior to confirmation of the employment for my current job and, although my illnesses don't require any action on the employer's part other than working part-time, the occ health lady said I'm covered by the DDA, too. My team hot-desk in a call centre and no one has their own space unless they have their workstation set up by occy health; we have 3 lots which are reserved for their particular users, desks and chairs both, two for back problems and one as infection control. Several more people have special chairs set for them. If all the free-desks are taken, you have to pick up your headset and hie you off to the overflow callcentre bit which means sitting cheek-by-jowl with the management..........:rotfl:I hate it when that happens as it impedes my swearing at the customers.;)
Yesterday after the t'internet went off I decided that I was so bored with being ill with the cold and just collapsing on the couch in the evening that I would ruddy well move the couch and wash the wall behind it with sugar soap prior to the Saturday arrival of my new second-hand block board and fake mahogany DVD cabinet which is to stand along part of it. So I did. Then I thought; "It's looking a bit shabby and it's technically prepped for painting and I have the paint anyway, so......."
:DSo I did it. Took all of 30 minutes. I should explain that the living room is 3.5 m long and this wall was that minus the doorway so it was hardly a herculean effort but it gave me a sense of achievement. Baby steps, baby steps.........
Thanks for the tip about Argos having choccie-brown fleeces at £1.99 (they'd match my curtains! And sort-of go with the mahogany veneerial furniture! Result!)
Softstuff (wahhh!) get well soon, hun.
Right, breakfast calls......porridge and whoopsied apples, I think. I laid-in a lot of Tesco Basics porridge on 3 for 2 and will eat it daily.
Oh, and I did a double-take in Little Mr T yesterday when I saw the 1 litre bottle of Basics shampoo has leapt from 19p to 62p. What a take; it's mostly water and that hasn't gone up so much.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Awh that's nice HJ, a baby is always a blessing, hope she comes back in here (when she gets time. LOL)
Today I am thinking. ............. wondering if I should do away with my batteries of lovely Ikea spotlights to save elect? We try not to use them very much but in winter it meant a lot of faffing about in the dark and flicking switches on & off for two seconds - bit mad but they cost me money and they look lovely. The kitchen has 5 halogen lights, the bathroom has 4, the hall has 5 -Blackpool !!:D
But the price of elect isnt going to go down, is it, and we are trying to get the bill as low as poss. We use coal heating and calor cooking, now its war on the electricity in the Mard hoose0 -

I have a large kitchen/diner. When OH or the children walk in from the hall they tend to flick all the lights on which uses 4 (energy efficient) bulbs in total. This lights their path to the kitchen side where they flick on another 6 halogen lights and if they make it to the utility room they switch on another. My solution was to have a table lamp on from dusk (energy bulb) with negates the need for any other lighting unless we are actually cooking or eating. Definitely worth it.0 -

Blinking train companies:eek::eek::eek: A couple of years ago I was on Notts station busting for the toilet. Found the loo but the time was 10.55 and the bloke/jobs worth arrogant **** would not let me go in and use them as they closed them at 11pm:mad::mad:
I had to pee on the platform behind some boxes:(:rotfl::rotfl:0 -
I'd like some input on lighting too, please. In the kitchen there are 4 sets of 3 spotlights. Now I find these difficult to clean and have the shivers every time I put them on, thinking about the poor meter. One or two of the spotlights have gone a bit baggy, and I'm trying to pluck up the energy to decorate in there. This is scary as I don't have a fitted kitchen, I have dressers with stuff on which all have to be cleared and put "somewhere" before I can start. I've ignored it for a while, but have just ordered the fleeces from Argos to pick up today to line the curtains, which leads me to think if I'm doing the curtains I might as well shorten them so they aren't as close to the radiator on one window and the sink on the other. Of course, you then get to the... if I'm doing that, I ought to decorate and get it over with!
Can anybody think of anything that is (1) easy to clean, (2) efficient and (3) moneysaving regarding energy?
Doesn't one thing lead to another? I firmly blame you lot and the "prep for winter" board lot.
As someone on here said the other day (sorry, forgotten. I have terrible memory for names) it is bl***y hard work being OS.
I know what will happen. I will just dismantle the kitchen and the garden stuff will absolutely take over and need freezing, bottling, jamming etc. etc.
Will probably be posting then screaming for someone to calm me down. Anyway, I'll shut up now, but would be grateful for any bright ideas for kitchen lights.
Keep fighting everyone - we will overcome.0
