Have to be honest and say while I may not be a prolific poster myself (moderate, I guess), years of frequenting various forums have taught me that it's poor netiquette to post repeatedly, one after the other, and on some boards this is even enough to get you banned. It could certainly be branded a certain variety of canned meat.

FWIW, I don't tend to read that poster's posts, simply because their manner of writing just doesn't go in with me! Text needs to be broken up and well punctuated etc to go in my head - people have always said it reads a lot like a variant of dyslexia, maybe they're right. (Huge swathes of text do my head in, just can't read them... words pop out from all over the page!)

Back O/T though and plan for today is to go post my ebay sale (hurrah!) and then see it the city library still has the copy of the 'live on a pound a day' book that was mentioned! :D

Do you think it would work just using all yoghurt and no mayo in sandwich fillers? I can't stand mayo or salad cream, one bonus is it means I'm never tempted to buy ready made sandwiches as they're all slathered in the stuff.

I make sandwich fillers for DD & OH but if I could do them with just yoghurt I can eat them too.

Yes, I often do. I make my own yoghurt, and tend to strain it (so it's more of a 'greek style' consistency if I'm using it in sandwiches, less soggy that way. You might want to increase the amount of any seasoning as well:D

How many people go back and read posts they have already read to see if they have been edited? I know I don't. I think this thread moves too fast for that to work. If you use the 'first unread' function you'd miss them all.

    This was what I thought.
  • Noisy neighbours

Iam sure we have all suffered with this at some point. I have in the past and have just dealt with one recently. I have a noisy neighbour next door but one who started banging with a hammer at all hours for hours on end. House between us is empty (because of him) so the noise reverberated through my house. The house belongs to a housing association (ringing your local authority will tell you if it is private owned oR HA) so I went on their website and did a complaint online. This worked a treat, they emailed me (will ring too) and went and visited him and sorted out the problem. There was a backlash off him though with an outburst of noise and hammer banging at 5am on a Sunday morning however this backfired as another neighbour went out and clobbered him but thats a different story. I meanwhile emailed the complaints dept again about the 5am outburst and silence reigns. It has been totally annonymous and he has no idea who originally complained.

So for those having problems there are ways to get it stopped. I have found being noisy back, although very satisfying at the time, can backfire and result in a who can make most noise competition and if official complaints are made they could drag you in and say you made as much noise as them.

I say quiet and deadly is the way. Can take a couple of weeks to sort out. Really annoys me though how some people think this behaviour is acceptable. Where I live is rather rough but in my part of the street we all work or are retired apart from this one individual.

  • :)trying to give them a laugh and cheer them up to forget about their worry problems was nothing more than kind intentions to other people out there from my end who cares about a silly star but was trying to be humorous give people a break from their woes and take their mind of their worries for a moment or two. No games here just trying to be kind and have a bit of a giggle . But realise now that some folks don t want to be cheered up and take everything that someone is trying to do in a negative way you for instance have spent your time adding my posts instead of enjoying your life in order to send me a very hurtfull post i hope you feel good about yourself.if other people do not want a character like me on money saving old style then thats fine i will leave and never post again but sincerely my intentions were good no alterior motive to gain stars i mean its not as if i win a prize now is it ? Grow up.:)
  • Maybe that the feeling is that the thread isn't really there to cheer us up. Just thinking out loud here and not getting at anyone.

Maybe if we wanted cheering up we might go to the pub threads or on OS daily chat thread.

The vibe I get from here is that it's somewhere to share idea's. A resource full of crafty little ways of coping when it's tough. I think we have to be very careful about going off topic too - I'm a rotter for doing that that!

MSE seems to be a place full of resources, they they allow you to have a chat and a giggle but there's certain places for it.... do we think?

I don't wish to upset anyone and firmly believe no matter your posting style everyone is allowed to post where ever they like but the content should be relevant no?

Also I get email notifications when there's a new post. I realise it's my choice to do that and do run the risk of my inbox full of things I'm not interested it but maybe bear this in mind when posting a sentence or two that really isn't OS.

Maybe I shouldn't get involved but feel I have to say the above.
  • Im going to have a very OS lunch break now by taking my home made salad and a library book to sit in the park! Make the most of a sunny lunch break and get some fresh air and all free!:T

Maybe I didn't make myself clear enough. I meant that when a poster makes a post and it is the newest post on the thread, and then they make another post immedietly below, it would be better to just edit the first post as no one has posted below yet. Often first thing in the morning there are several posts in a row at the end of the thread by the same poster. ;)Hope that's clearer. :)

Please don't stop posting altogether Saveabob. :(

shame the posters on the thread don't seem to welcome you despite you enjoying the thread. I suggest you follow ceridwen's advice and put her on ignore.

Not really - and I've got as far as I think yesterday's grand total of posts from saveabobortwo was 36.

As a couple of people have commented positively on this game she is playing on our thread - then I am entitled to state that I find it very disruptive to the thread and hope that she starts up her own thread to play "Guess how many posts I can put in today towards getting another MSE star".

I shall join now with one of my MSE friends and put her on "ignore" - so won't be able to read anything further she puts anyway.

is there an exam one has to pass to be allowed to post on our thread?

fortunately it doesn't appear to be the case here that users will be banned for merely enjoying a thread as after all os is often held up to be the friendliest of boards?

perhaps that poster you rather rudely refer to ss dyslexic, did you bother to find out?

talking statistics it appears ceridwen has the highest number of posts on this thread is no-one allowed to topple her :D
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)

I hope this doesn't turn into a bun fight. :(

Like others I come on here for a bit of mutual support. Logging out now to do some baking. Hope all is well this evening. :)
