    dee,

Sad to hear of your sisters' response to your kindhertedness. It may be difficult but try to keep the lines of communication open as best you can.

They may have need of your support and money saving wisdom in the future.

The global economy is in very poor shape and a perfect storm is brewing. The middle east is on just about on fire, Greece state debt is causing grave concern in Europe, Japan has very limited power supply and is not able to manufacture goods the world needs, earthquakes and volcanoes are causing economic chaos everywhere from Ethiopia to New Zealand. We seem a little isolated from it all here in Blighty, but in a global trade enviroment we are all linked and affected eventually.

We all have our reasons for being frugal and some people don't understand and undermine them, it's a very narrow view.

I like to keep all my options open and on the table, flexibility and the ability to adapt to a changing situation is a valuable tool in these interesting times. 'Stay frosty' as they say.

    Morning All :D

Well yesterday I fixed my electricity for the next two years :T We are on a fixed rate already so I knew it would go up but at least I am saved from further price rises for now  I was pleased as because I was with the same provider then I could just switch products with no penalty fee anyway and that will kick in immediately so negating the price rise. Now I just need to do the same with the oil........

The weather is gorgeous here today, its nice to see the sun out rather than warm and grey. More rain forecast for the end of the week, still wont be enough but it may take the edge off the drought.

Much mirth here last night as the peas were being harvested. Our farm is contracted to Birds Eye this year as they are harvesting the peas rather than letting them dry in the fields for cattle feed. Four large red combines appeared in the fields yesterday, DH curious to know how the machines work googled Birds Eye harvesting and there was a picture of the combine :rotfl::rotfl: Little things and little minds he was gobsmacked that they really DO harvest and freeze within 2 and a half hours (I did tell him) but he was chuffed that the peas we eat could have been grown on our fields!

Picked up DS2's new quilt yesterday - I couldnt have done what this lady did! Its great as its very OS, wonderfully washable and he loves it. DS1 has ordered his and has chosen some old shirt checks to go in it (very money saving!) in colours he likes, so then I can get mine ordered - am so excited lol.

Today I have a man coming to check the insulation - I know we dont have enough but with any luck we will be able to get a grant to add some more to it and before the winter too :T:T

Redlady good luck for today not that you will need it but we will all be there in spirit with you (might be a bit crowded mind but we will put Mardatha at the front for the Kale!)

GreyQueen nice to see you back :D

blackandwhitebunny wholeheartedly agree with you! The amount of conflicting advice that comes out almost on a weekly basis seems to reach epic proportions. We were discussing this the other day, and a friend of mine was saying that coming from Cornwall her Dad used to eat clotted cream regularly and is now 96 and going strong, has to be something there when really under todays fad diets that really should have killed him off long ago!

CBHM - just wanted to say I think you are doing an amazing job and I really enjoy reading your posts about how you are doing! Keep those pennies yowling :rotfl::rotfl:

Ceridwen just one for me today :p:rotfl: well might get to two later!

Hope everyone has a great day x

'Tis okay...I know where you are coming from...

I presume Chav Central is the next door neighbour and they spend loads of time disrupting your home that you have put so much time/money/hard work into with loud music.

I can thoroughly sympathise. I have had to put all sorts of time and money into B.H. (aka "Blimmin' House"). Mine isn't a loved house - like yours is..but it IS my home FWIW and I get very upset when people disturb it in some way and am very likely to call them chavs (if not worse).

So - I sort of alternate between genuine puzzlement - as I was brought up to believe that homes are places of "peace and quiet", nice gardens, reasonable neighbours, etc - so I literally don't understand when things around my house arent like that and sheer "If that chav doesnt stop disrupting things soon I swear I'll swing for them.....(amended to my version of "swing for them" is of the "civilised - who can I contact variety:rotfl:").

So - vent away my lass - I can resonate with you on that one...

...and good luck with your exam. I may not have (havent got...) much of a job - but I do like to be first in line to wish other peeps well at improving theirs.

Not really - and I've got as far as I think yesterday's grand total of posts from saveabobortwo was 36.

As a couple of people have commented positively on this game she is playing on our thread - then I am entitled to state that I find it very disruptive to the thread and hope that she starts up her own thread to play "Guess how many posts I can put in today towards getting another MSE star".

I am with you. I am also finding her posts very disruptive and childish and I am using the ignore button, which I have only ever used once before.

Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Well, O Fortuna at 6 am full blast should have got my message across. Everything was fine here until CC moved in (not OUR CC) last August. Since then all they do is drink and the youngest chav plays music SO loud every day. But recently it has turned into night too. Oh, did I mention I live 3 doors away from this toss!!!!! The trouble is the way the cottages are laid out both myself and another neighbour get it full on. However, my "neighbour" is currently empty. How they afford the rent on the place is beyond me as it must be £1500 per month, at least.

There have been parties until 3 am in the week. Now I wouldnt mind but this is considered the better area of the town so you wouldnt normally expect to find people like that here....God that sounds so up myself but you know what I mean, I hope.

Anyway, I am off so will catch up with you happy peeps soon.

    Laters xx
