    Hi GreyQueen

If you do need new specs it's worth looking on the internet for suppliers other than the optician who does your test. There might even be something on here about it ....

    There is, here:

Have had a really good laugh at saveabob's antics over the last 2 days - love the song you sing to your dog :T. My dog looks at me as though I'm potty when I start to sing - she might be right :rotfl:

Back in a bit - the timer on my lentils has just gone off and I need to make my tea.

Dolly daydream I have sent you a Pm re home schooling.

Aaaw Nualabuala is missing, has she a blog? I will nip and have a look, it might give us a clue.

As for families, well they say you can choose your friends but not your families and its so true! My SIL sends my gifts to the CS and has the cheek to give them to me to take (when I ran a cs) Most of my family love my stuff and it has been said my crochet blankets are magical as the recipient always becomes attached to them - adults or babies. Im sorry that your have been useless just when you need the support but 'what goes around, comes around' as they say. I think the issue is bigger than gifts isnt it/ Do they not understand about your Oh being ill? Aaaah well stick with us guys and we will all be debt free and happy one day soon, while the rest sink without trace :(

  • Evening all you lovely peoples
It's been a very wet and blustery weekend but despite it had a wonderful barbecue & party for our eldest grandson (10) so no surprise it peeee'd down with rain all day :rotfl:barbecues and Scotland just don't really go.
While i was muttering to myself about the price of food at tesco tonight i noticed they have their own brand slow cooker reduced to a tenner, which may be of interest , especially for eeeking out portions of cheap meat etc.
Reverbe i have a copy of the bk if you wish pm me and i can send.

ok this has absolutely nothing to do with money saving but it's a TOUGH thing for me to have to deal with
there is a possibility that we might have to pull DD out of school in September(all depends on what the head teacher has to say to an email i have sent him) so i might have to home school her so does anyone on here home school and have any tips for me??

I home educated for two years and have never regretted it. DS is just finishing sixth form and has done really well. I found Education Otherwise to be the best site for information (it's been around for years) Mike Fortune Wood's site was also good, although I haven't read it in about eight years as DS went back to school when we moved. EO will have a list of local home ed groups, where you will meet some interesting people. Some are into all sorts of alternative lifestyle things, some are just unhappy with the local school and want to give their child an education suited to their particular needs. Interestingly some are also school teachers taking time out to teach their own children, knowing that they won't get the same one on one teaching at school. Do read the information on the Education Otherwise site, they know all the legal ins and outs and give you the confidence to begin to help your child learn. BTW it's very old style. Middle class mothers whose husbands couldn't afford a nanny used to teach their own children before the advent of compulsory education.

Was raining here lots this morning.
Stopped around 11:30 and I got the washing out. Got the lot dry on the line.
Next lot in so as I can get that out first thing.

Had hg potatoes for dinner yesterday. They were delish. Such depth of flavour.
Made lentil soup today with bacon water, lo potatoes and lo bacon scraps. Boiled up chicken carcass and made chicken and veg soup with lo bits of chicken & veggies. That fed 4 adults for a substantial lunch with hm bread.
Slices of bacon in the freezer for bacon & mustard sandwiches to take for work lunches, and slices of chicken in the freezer for chicken & pickle sandwiches. Even got some bacon and chicken chunks to make a pie - with lots of added veggies.
Will make a "lasagne" combining the lo soups and layering with pasta sheets, topping with cheese sauce and baking for 40 mins.

    I love rubber meals:)
