Dee I will tell you about me ,I think it will help. I am aged 50 now but when I was a teenager my elder brother got married. Now,he had a good job and above average income. My parents wernt particulaly well off . My new S-in-L used to bin every single thing I made for them. She used to take mum shopping and get her to buy things she couldnt afford ,and when I bought their new baby something in a sale that was binned too. We wernt good enough, you see,we lived in council accomadation. New S-in-L spent years making everyones life a misery and used my parents grandchildren as blackmail, she wouldnt let them visit if they sided with me or said anything about her behaviour and spending. Iloved my brother and she cut him off from us. Butwhat goes around comes around. Years later when her son married he didnt invite her to his wedding.0

Dee I had a similar problem with my family especially my siblings. I started making handmade things for them four years ago and it all ended up in the bin (so, my sister recently told me). They would openly laugh at my presents and make jokes of them. Then last year they finally saw the light. My sister made all her Christmas presents and everyone excepted this and praised her. I blew my top and asked why her homemade gifts were acceptable and mine were to be thrown out. Everyone was very shame faced and apologised and we had a real heart to heart and all was sorted.'Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.'

ok this has absolutely nothing to do with money saving but it's a TOUGH thing for me to have to deal with
there is a possibility that we might have to pull DD out of school in September(all depends on what the head teacher has to say to an email i have sent him) so i might have to home school her so does anyone on here home school and have any tips for me??
Dee - families eh? we don't speak to any of DH's family as they didn't agree with how we are bringing up our DD or our lifestyle, they are the ones missing out and DH really isn't bothered by it in the slightest, we were the ones always arranging days out with his sister and her family but they would always cancel on us but then she would be on fb saying how she had been with friends(when they were meant to be with us) so we have given up trying, if they want to see us then it's up to her to arrange it as we are fed up of doing it and getting fobbed off with one excuse or another!!!
my family can be funny about homemade gifts, i can see it on their faces but they would never say anything like what your sisters have said, that is totally ungrateful and selfish on their part and imo your better off not bothering with a gift for your sister if thats the way she is going to be - i would just send a card to her and leave the ball in her court......
GreyQueen - it's good to see you back
thinking about others who used to post - has anyone seen NualaBuala around lately??0 -

I have been stalking her every week, she has been lurking, she did say in March or April that she wouldn't be posting as her RSI was playing up and she wanted it to get a rest.
