    Hi all

Feeling a bit damp around the edges from watching DS play cricket in the rain. Going to top up the bath and jump in myself to get warmed up a bit. I suspect there is a pile of damp cricket whites somewhere so should really put those in soak.

Feels like autumn here, nearly dark with the rain coming down but at least its watering in my newly planted bedding.

I need to sort out our insulation too. Have ordered some heating oil while prices are lower so that should come this month.

Right, going to switch the computer off now - more electricity saved!!! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

Ive just fixed our gas / electricity for a year so hope not to have too nasty as surprise next winter. I have to have the heating on as Im at home all day and disabled so no choice really. I do have blankets and hot water bottles but the house gets so damp so have to put the heating on.

I went to C0stc0 on Friday and did my yearly stock up of flour - SR and plain. Hope it remains a good price. I was going to look out my receipts from a year ago to compare prices and will do that tomorrow.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I'm not technically-minded - but my overall instant reaction to this article was "If I had millions of £s to spare (ie our Government - judging by how much it can find for certain directions...) - then my reaction would probably be to reach for my cheque book and ask how much money they wanted to work on this."

A source of very low cost and unlimited energy scares me a bit, I think the big corporations would absoloutely rape the planet producing all kinds of rubbish in the name of profit.

Oil is a very valuable resource with amazing energy to volume and just look how they have abused that, to the detriment of the enviroment.

Well I've found a smart price item which I genuinely prefer to the expensive ones - Mr A does smart price milk choc digestives for 31p (I think, will have to check my receipt) and I prefer them to McVities so that's a result. I only have them as a treat anyway but they will be a cheaper treat now:) Everytime I put a packet of biscuits in my trolley I think of my late great grandmother who claimed that 2 signs of a "fallen woman" were painting their toe nails and buying packet biscuits - she would turn in her grave if she save me now as I do both!

On the subject of courgettes there is a recipe in the Hummingbird book for Courgette, Walnut and Cinammon cake - if anyone is interested just let me know and I'll find the details and post them.

    Hullo peeps!

I have made 5 loaves of bread! Unfortunately my new oven seems to be fast and it has burned the loaves on the top shelf, just at one edge. I think the oven may be on a slope. I shall have to practise more baking!

Loaves will be sliced once they are cool and then bagged up and put in the freezer.

A much more productive day than yesterday, although I haven't done any housework

    Thank you Smileyt
another question does anyone else do bulk shopping at somewhere like macro my partner is convinced it would work out cheaper but im just not sure he wont eat basic pasta although i have tried a few times to give it to him sneakily lol. Are plan is to have enough food for at least 3 months as i am disabled and unable to work and we rely on my partners wages topped up slightly with my benefits which im worrying about due to the ever changing system
  • :D i give them their personal space but i am aware when the reductions are being made im a savvy shopper no point paying top price unless your quite happy to throw your money away:rotfl:
