Egg is what MAKES fish pie, it's, it's, it's (head explodes with inability to describe just how yummy this is).
Ahem.
I'm making kedgeree later in the week. And eggs will definitely be part of that, too.

If I am honest FS, I couldn't find it in the pie!!!
I threw in some mussels, prawns and salmon - along with a couple of "pouting".
I have a WI recipe and I must admit, it is quite lush. The parsley sauce is very yummy. I use whatever fish I fancy though.
Men eh??? :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

OK, now take a deep breath, freudianslip, you CAN do this
Poach some smoked haddock in some milk for about 10 mins or so. Meanwhile, boil some potatoes for mashing and 2 or 3 eggs (not in the same pan: important safety tip). Also cook some peas - I usually zap 'em in the microwave for 2 mins.
Now:
Drain milk into a jug. Flake fish into an frying pan, getting rid of any killer bones. Shell your eggs and cut 'em up. Mix with the fish and add the peas. Sprinkle a spoonful of flour over. Now, gradually add the milk to make a thickish sauce (you don't need much). Drain your potatoes and mash with a knob of butter and the remainder of the milk (not if you used gallons, obviously :rotfl:). Transfer the contents of the frying pan to a dish, top with mashed potato and dot with butter (and grated cheese, if you like). Cook until potato is browned - just under a grill if you've cooked it all through on the hob, or you can put it in the oven if not.
Trust me, hard-boiled eggs never tasted so good.0 -
I agree. Claire McDonald fish pie recipe is to die for. Eggs and peas included. Once made an 8portion size one for Xmas Eve (for 4 people) There was NOTHING left.GC Mar 13 £47.36/£1500
