Thanks ceridwen, he's gutted, mainly because of Grandpa's watch, but he's on his work experience year,so is renting until the end of june(I think) and then he comes home,so I don't think that moving is going to be an option.I'm not sure what the two lads he shares with have lost, but it sounds like a sizeable haul.
I'm so angry:mad::mad::mad:
Well - thats one thing to be thankful for - ie that he is moving out in a few weeks anyway. Meanwhile - he has these other 2 lads there with him.
They would be well-advised not to replace anything until after they have moved out - as the "scum" otherwise referred to in polite language as "thieves" have a tendency to follow the phrase about "lightning striking twice" and come back again a suitable period of time later to pinch the replacements too.
Short of having a crystal ball later to know if/when they are likely to come back for a repeat performance in order to "greet them accordingly";) (the phrase "shake them warmly by the throat" comes to mind LOL) - then I guess all he CAN do then is ensuring he waits till he is back with you before replacing the goods.0 -
They often do go back. They give it a couple of months for everything to be replaced then hit it again.
Well, I have finally given in - the burner is now lit and FK is in her rightful place in front of it!!! OBB would have loved the burner except we could never bring him over here as he wouldnt have coped. The OH is over here all the time now. Feels nice but odd at the same time. I think he feels a bit redundant now as he no longer has anything to care for and I have noticed he is playing with FK more too.
Thinking of you lot in Jockland this evening. Stay safe up there.0 -
I know what I'd like to do with a crystal ball and it wouldn't be pleasant!!!!!!
I think the thing that will need replacing is his laptop-he's definitely lost without it,he does everything on it.I'm still happy with a cheque book, lol.
It's funny,we bring 'em up to be honest law abiding young men and then the thieves/scumbags/mindless idiots-take your pick-come along and think that they have the right to walk in and take what they like:mad::mad::mad: Rant over, normal service will be resumed shortly:oGive without remembering, receive without forgetting.0 -

It is called repeat victimisation and the police are supposed to warn people about it.
Wait 6 weeks for the insurance to pay out and then hit the place again for the new stuff. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
thanks everyone for your wedding wishes - have confirmed the time with family members today and we may well be 3 people down as 11.30am is too early for them. Feel bad for OH as most his family wont be there at this rate. Im sticking to my guns though and not moving things - can see OH is wavering under the pressure!
This was meant to be a stress free, lovely day for us and the boys and I still intend to make it that way!
Just need to ask my brother to give me away at the weekend - dad died last year so hoping he will do the honours.
Got some money of coupons for sainsurys so going to go during half term next week, theres a park for the boys to keep them busy. also printed a few money of coupons to try and reduce the shopping bill.Mum, wife and dinnerlady!0 -
I do hope all our friends in Scotland are ok and are safe and warm away from the terrible weather.
I am tempted to rant myself with regards to reckless drunken drivers. we have had over 89,000 views on this thread from people looking for support, help, advice and sharing our good and bad days. Sadly at least one of them may have suffered at the hands of an idiot I do hope this doesnt put them off popping in to see us all. There are many things people are going through in their daily lives which are totally out of their control - somethings are your own choice. I do not wish to offend anyone just give my opinion.Clearing the junk to travel light

Is anyone else experiencing a tight financial squeeze? Its all got really difficult recently, been getting harder for some time but this last couple of months have been very hard. DH hasnt had a wage increase for 5 years so in actual fact hes now on less per hour because of inflation. All his overtime has stopped and his travelling costs have increased. I work part time and walk to work but everything I earn now goes on necessities like heating oil, rather than as saving for a rainy day or the odd treat. We make do and mend and take packed lunches but with so may price rises its difficult to make ends meet. I dont know where they get 5% inflation from,my personalinflation level must be 20% plus.0

Hi oldtractor,
We have an existing thread where people post about how times are getting tougher so I've added your post to it and hopefully you will get lots of advice and support.

Hi and welcome, I share my very humble frugal tips on here to try and make a penny do the work of two. I also enjoy the support here in these difficult times.
I've been around the block a few times, but there are always new penny-stretching things to learn. This forum has been a fountain of imformation and I really appreciate it. I hope you will be able to find some things to help you.0
