so I tipped the runny one into a jelly bag and suspended it from the tap over the sink to drip overnight.

strain it over a bowl instead -the whey that drains off is full of nutrients and is excellent used as the fluid in scones, bread, pancakes, batter, muffins.

You only have to heat up the milk if it's fresh milk - UHT you can use cold.

I've never made yoghurt with semi-skimmed UHT as I thought it might be too runny, but it's probably worth a go!

Easy Peasy - 2 tbsp starter yog and 2 tbsp skimmed milk powder whisked into Semi-Skimmed or Skimmed UHT and made in Easiyo the usual way makes very thick (Greek Style thickness) yogurt. Boys love yogurt, but like it thick so have experimented - A LOT!!!!

Jackie - guess what turned up today!!!! Now that is speedy service! However, it has caused much humour in the office. I am more known for my love of clothes, shoes and make up rather than shopping trollies. :D In fact one of my so called friends is still laughing about it. Cant wait until she finally leaves home and has to fend for herself rather than her mother still making all her food - and she is 32!!

I must admit I am slightly uncomfortable about using it for the first time but I have swallowed my pride before, looks like I will have to do it again and remember why I am doing this :D

I will say though, it is only just tall enough and today I am in flat shoes.

Mine are sheltering under the tree house but I'll lock them up in a bit.
Not funny up here either. Boats being trashed about, sea crashing on to the road, 30 odd foot trees outside the house bending scarily. Lots of plants in the garden lost and pots broken. :(

Doubt if we'll have power for much longer.

What a lovely May we've had......and they have forecast thunderstorms for tomorrow and Thursday.

I now have a vison of a polytunnel floating over the sea! Mardatha was trying to post to you to put the hens away but something ate my post. Today is a bit like that really! Hens are not happy when they are cold and wet so if in doubt tuck them up.

Dd has just heard that Mr M are cutting all overtime in their branch - not making enough money. She actually managed to buy some whoopsies yesterday - she doesnt get much chance as the shops either closed when she finishes or she is running to pick little man up. She got me 5 bags of bread flour and 5 bags of dried fruit all 20p each so I am feeling like its Christmas.

After torrential rain the sun is now shining but it doesnt fool me, as soon as I nip out the heavens will open  Been to B&Q for a bag of compost and it was 2.00 cheaper than the garden centre opposite. Should have enough now with the leaf mould and Hm compost for all my pots. Am going to pile the leaves high in my wire container this autumn, it takes a while to break down but its beautiful when its done. I also have some bags I made from an old net curtain so will fill them up too - or theres the other way and spend 10.00 at the garden centre for 2 string bags to keep your leaves in :rotfl:

Kidcat congratulations on getting the keys, hope all goes well

İ am in one of those ranting moods so forgive me before i start!!---its the wife again! Do you women treat your husband like a blank cheque when you decide you need more money!!???

İ will rewind a bit to saturday night--as you might know i ride a scooter in chaos traffic in a large turkish city. On saturday night i had too much to drink and my wife being in a mood with me let me get on my motorbike and ride home instead of insisting i go in the taxi with her---she said on sunday that i had a 50pc chance of killing myself and if i did she would be rich!!!--i kinda take things to heart like that!!
Now she expects me to pay all her expenses for our holiday when i have warned her all year to save. we earn the same amount from our business and i have bought the air tickets but she has known she had to pay the visas but now she is expecting me to!--and then she needs spending money etc etc --i feel i am being taken as a mug!!-rant over
    mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.

I have booked it and its staying as we said, wedding then lunch at a chinese eat all you want. They will set the tables up for us so if anyone wants to make a speech they can. Im getting a nice dress but no bridesmaids. We have a strict budget and we want simple but hardly anyone gets that.

It's your day and your budget. I hope you have a lovely, simple, memorable day. I went to a local eco friendly complex with its own cafe the other day and found there was a wedding reception (and a separate birthday party) taking place in the cafe at the same time as we and others were just meeting for lunch. The bride and groom had a big table with all the guests gathered around and a bunch of flowers that looked like they had been grown in someone's garden and then arranged by a florist. It was lovely sharing the strangers' special day and so natural and uncontrived. The only 'special' thing they had splashed out on was a pretty wedding dress for the bride, which we assume was new, but who's to know?

Hello everyone, today I have booked my wedding, 12 weeks today (15th Aug) at the town hall. We decided yesterday to go for it - we been together 8 years and got two boys.

We were all excited, started to tell family and got the, not that day we will have to cancel something - what do you mean no evening reception - youve got to have flowers - why arent you having a 'proper' wedding dress and bridesmaids! The list goes on... so I have booked it and its staying as we said, wedding then lunch at a chinese eat all you want. They will set the tables up for us so if anyone wants to make a speech they can. Im getting a nice dress but no bridesmaids. We have a strict budget and we want simple but hardly anyone gets that.

dont talk about food prices going up, this month Im back to shopping in lots of different places.

hope everyone is well on this blustery day

congratulations on booking the wedding - we had a quickie wedding, booked the registry office(think there was 5 weeks to go) and told everyone(well i say everyone i mean my parents and DH's parents) and we got 'oh that's a funny day to get married' - it was a tuesday but we didn't give a monkeys as it was the day that DD was exactly 6 months old and to us that's what mattered!
we invited my parents and 2 sisters, DH's parents and sister/bil and that was it - it was our day and that was who we wanted there(don't really speak to anyone else in either family) told them we were off to a local fish restaurant after the service and they were more than welcome to come............. turned out that we fell out with his family before the wedding as they didn't like how we were bringing up OUR daughter so they ended up not coming, so our wedding party consisted of the two of us, DD, my parents and my 2 sisters - my dad and one of my sisters were our witnesses
a couple of weeks before i went to meadowhell with my mum and sisters and bought an outfit - cream trousers, a cami top and some wedge sandals(all things that could be worn again) DH bought a 3 piece suit from matalan for £40(again something to wear again as he wears suits for work)
they came down to ours the night before the wedding(they live 100 miles away) and we all sat and had a chinese, mum played around with my hair, on the wedding morning we all got ready at our house, mum did my hair and i did my make up, we went to the registry office in our 2 cars, got married, took a few photo's, went to cleethorpes and had fish and chips at Steeles, went home, chilled out for a few hours then my sisters went home on the train, mum and dad stayed overnight so we went to the pictures while they babysat DD for us
we had a fantastic wedding day and if we were to do it all again i wouldn't change a thing - well apart from almost ending up in A&E for my wedding night :rotfl: - it was our day and all about us and we didn't pander to anyone else's needs and i can honestly say i remember EVERY last bit about my day as i wasn't stressed out making sure everyone else's needs were being met!!

al in all i think we got married for less than £400 - registry office, new outfits for us both, the meal for 6, our night at the pictures, the chinese the night before and other little bits like the bunch of flowers DH bought me and my hair grips etc

oops i didn't mean to write an essay :o

hope you have a fantastic wedding day :)
