Kittie, thanks for posting re all your wee containers etc, that's given me a much needed push to sort out some more when this *&^%$ weather lifts. I have a few big empty containers and should really fill them! The polytunnel wasnt mine, was the people next door's, just a teeny one for lettuce for their rabbits.0

Afternoon all
Just popped in to ask-can I use soda crystals to clean my dishwasher? And how do I put them in? I usually use a proprietary cleaner but can't afford one at the mo.
Cheers

Hello everyone, today I have booked my wedding, 12 weeks today (15th Aug) at the town hall. We decided yesterday to go for it - we been together 8 years and got two boys.
We were all excited, started to tell family and got the, not that day we will have to cancel something - what do you mean no evening reception - youve got to have flowers - why arent you having a 'proper' wedding dress and bridesmaids! The list goes on... so I have booked it and its staying as we said, wedding then lunch at a chinese eat all you want. They will set the tables up for us so if anyone wants to make a speech they can. Im getting a nice dress but no bridesmaids. We have a strict budget and we want simple but hardly anyone gets that.
dont talk about food prices going up, this month Im back to shopping in lots of different places.
hope everyone is well on this blustery dayMum, wife and dinnerlady!0 -

Congrats Lindy!!! Its your day so quite frankly sod everyone else! If they want to celebrate your wedding then they will come and if they just want to show off, then they wont. Weddings are about the rest of your lives together, not a bloody party for the world! Sorry but this makes me so cross. People dont even think about the bride and groom anymore. I actually think you have a top wedding planned so enjoy the day!!! :T:beer:
I am after a copy of Kitchen in the Hills - the Hovel Cook Book. Does anyone have a copy they wish to sell as amazon are asking stupid money for a copy!! :eek:0 -

I was going to have a go at this after seeing a YouTube video but I thought you had to boil the milk in a pan before putting it in the Easiyo tub.
I have a new tub of full fat Greek Style yoghurt but bought the semi UHT milk by mistake would that be OK?
So I put two tbs of starter yog into the container, pour all of the UHT carton in and then pour hot water up to the baffle thing as you would when normally using your Easiyo?
You only have to heat up the milk if it's fresh milk - UHT you can use cold.
I've never made yoghurt with semi-skimmed UHT as I thought it might be too runny, but it's probably worth a go!
Yes, you make it in the usual way - 2 tblsps yoghurt in the container, stir in the milk, fill the white thermos up to the top of the red baffle and put the lid on. You don't need a WHOLE carton of UHT.
If it does turn out too runny, you can strain it through a jelly bag (or muslin in a sieve) to get rid of excess water. I made two batches yesterday - one was perfect and the other was a bit runny (confused???!!!!) so I tipped the runny one into a jelly bag and suspended it from the tap over the sink to drip overnight. This turned out to be too long a time as I have this morning absolutely delicious cream cheese! I might chop up some parsley and chives from the garden later and stir it into my amazing product - but yoghurt it ain't! So that's my tip for the day - strain, but not for too long! Have fun!
grandma, thanks very much for the info about the pips and seeds. I shall certainly do that - if my tomatoes don't get hit by blight again this year :mad:0 -
Hope my hens are ok in this wind, its seriously howling and roaring here. Wonder if I should just shut them in the coop, can anybody advise?0
