From a non-techie point of view, it seems a bit too good to be true.
I've read the webpage and the first thing that jumps out is that it's free for everyone (personal and corporate). How do they make money to develop it?

Just seems to me that simply saying "windows inbuilt firewall is far safer" is unqualified, and possibly an opinion and utterly without any form of qualification. Regardless of the # of posts, its a valid question I posed, is it not?

The question is valid. Your netiquette leaves a lot to be desired though.

Also, your original question is a bit lacking in detail, which rather makes it unqualified as well.

    Why? State your source ? - it's a bit ' punchy ' isn't it ?

A few seconds spent by you looking at RIK's record in these matters would surely have persuaded you that RIK's opinion in #5 was more than """ unqualified, and possibly an opinion and utterly without any form of qualification""" you would then I'm sure have found a more gently focused, less adversarial way to phrase your inquiry.

You may have accidentally chosen a posting style that was more an aggressive interrogation, a third degree type of confrontational response.

Can I welcome you to the forum UncleZen, all contributions are welcome here, perhaps if you would re-phrase your question RIK will answer you in full my friend.

I also dont think you can create a rule until somethings installed. Many programs connect to the net mid-install

The 'block all outbound connections that do not match a rule' covers the the new installation case (deliberate or malware).

But fully agree with you that its difficulty to configure easily is its downfall.

It really isnt. In fact you should really think about uninstalling it (windows inbuilt firewall is far safer)

I read reviews before I installed it, seems to be working fine. I've had this laptop for about 10months and download regularly. Nothing bad yet *knocks wood*

AVG is the poorest of the main 4

Its firewall is full of holes

But fair enough, im only trying to save you the pain of when somone breaks through it
