Thanks for all the replies! Gosh never thought anyone actually read this lol.

I had been on my DMP for about 10 months before putting in my F and Fs. I was fortunate that I got a lump sum from tax credits and had a couple of hundred quid that I had managed to save.

Need to start focussing on sticking to a shopping budget. So for July I am going to try to stick to £400. We go away on 23rd July for a week and have managed to save £600 spending money (but I dont intend on spending it all!)

So my plan for the month is to do a meal plan.

Got a curry simmering away in the slow cooker that has been made from stuff that was lurking in the freezer, some onions that had started sprouting and ive thrown in some chard that was growing in the garden. Smells lovely and ive made some naan bread so I am actually quite looking forward to dinner tonight.

My biggest weakness is not planning meals for myself to take to work with me so I end up buying sandwiches, crisps and chocolate which results in a £5 spend every day I work. I may as well work 1 hour free!

Its been my day off today and I have been rather lazy although I have had a Triple P meeting this morning. The kids are off school but not really seen them as they have been in their bedrooms most of the day.

Im hoping that it wont rain later. Its Donkey Derby night and I am planning on taking the kids (just to get them out of the house) but will have to hope the rain stops.

Anyway im off to have a rummage through the freezer and cupboards and see what kind of meal plan I can rustle up. I dont want to spend any money just because I couldnt be bothered to take anything out of the freezer.

  • If you are managing to save all that now how much could you save if you didn't smoke? Can you get on one of the dr's free schemes?

    Hey LiT

A very well done on all the savings :D Keep up the meal planning it means more in the savings pot ;) If you have sandwiches at work, maybe just make one up especially as you are meal planning and I am sure they will be more yummy than the ones you buy. Work out how much you spend on the ciggies write the figure down and I am sure that will give you a nudge in the right direction to stop. :D

Your holiday will be all the more sweeter not having to worry about spends...good for you hun.

    Catch you later ;)
