You just had to didn't you Intra? :rotfl: I almost edited my post before I hit the send button, as the thought occured to me maybe the ex would see it as a pleasure not a threat.

I'm an ex, but hopefully I'm not advising her on here lol

I know it's a scary process, and thought, but you will feel a lot better after going BR. My situation sounds similar to yours. I split from my ex, and stayed in the house with our two children (then 3 and 7). He promised to pay towards the mortgage but basically paid me nothing. To make a long story short, I struggled on through but made the decision to go BR when I decided this wasn't the life I wanted to live. The house was repossessed, the ex went mad at me and started threatening not to pay child maintenance, so I went to the CSA (it's not the children's fault and that annoys me he even threatened that!). Anyhow, I was discharged on the 1st April. I have no debts whatsoever and it's wonderful! I found another home that I privately rent and my Landlord has been brilliant.
My ex left me with £52k of debt that he accrued (he couldn't get credit so used mine...all in my name). I included that in the BR as well as any shortfall on the house selling. My ex has now been landed the short fall of £42k and I am absolutely thrilled. It couldn't happen to a nicer person.
I know it's scary, and you fear for your children and a roof over your head, but don't. Go seek advice from the voluntary debt advice agencies and speak to the Council. I was told that I couldn't get a Council house however as I was deemed as making myself voluntary homeless, and I never ever thought that I would get a house.
Best of luck :-)0 -
just opened letter from electricity and gas supplier with a notice of disconnection.
The money i owe them was going to be included in my petition for bankruptcy.
I now don't know what to do as i have no bank card due to the account being frozen and have not yet received the new co-operative one.
Can they disconect even though i have two children aged 6 and 11 living with me full-time?

Ring them up immediately and explain you have children. I think best not mention the intention to go BR though. You might be able to persuade them to install a meter which could take a few days to organise and in the meantime they probably won't cut the supplies.
Your Co-op card should arrive soon, make sure you pay something towards the utilities as soon as you can. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN
