£47 /month is quite low for both fuels, surely you were paying a similar amount previously with British Gas.
You won't be able to get a cheaper rate anywhere else.

Maybe not, but i can't afford to pay for the fuel in advance, that was the whole reason i switched, i honestly thought it would be saving cash on my quarterly bills, this does not seem to be what has happened.

The whole energy business confuses me, i can really say in all honesty i had no idea what i was signing up for, had i known this would be direct debit payments i would have refused point blank. Too much jargon for me i just trusted money supermarkets recommendation and went with it.

with respect, isn't it easier to have paid the bill in monthly instalments rather than having to pay it all at once each quarter? I don't really see how it would make a difference for you...

I hope at least you now know what you have signed up for. SP will want a regular monthly payment of £47.
I would be wary of cancelling the direct debit and try to come to an amicable agreement with them.

No, i pay every 2 weeks on a payment card that i get issued, its free to pay at pay points or at post office, if i get a electric bill for £50 i spread that out over 3 months and pay what i need to, its how i have always worked.

They don't listen, its "sorry for inconvenience" from them, but no other options are offered, this is why i wanted to contact someone else they are not a bit helpful.

trying actually ringing them and saying you want to cancel your dd, it might be that they have to move you onto a different tariff to do this though.

For once I have some sympathy with an energy company. They probably just haven't a clue what you're complaining about or what you want them to do.
