I have contacted Scot Power who don't seem to give a hoot about this, i think they may have signed me up to a monthly big direct debit charge for dual fuel, which i did not agree to, nor ask for, nor would i have bothered giving them any info whatsoever if i had any clue they were going to charge me more from a switch, the switch was SUPPOSED to be cheaper.

This a a real energy use estimate on my real usage, from money supermarket, i made a switch to SAVE money not pay even more, the quote was a saving of £156 per annum at the very least as follows:

Quote Summary

Current annual gas spend
£280.00
Current annual electricity spend
£280.00
Current annual spend
£560.00
This is what i really use at the most per year.

And the following is a email i got from scot power, the direct debit today has wiped out my bank balance into over draught and they are going to try hit me again in a few days for more, i am going to the bank tomorrow and giving instructions to reject all requests from Scottish Power regarding direct debits, i am left with nothing at all now for 2 weeks i will have to cross them bridges when i come to them.

Thank you again for choosing ScottishPower. Now your gas switch is complete (we’ll be in touch about your electricity later) you can look forward to great service as well as great value energy.

Your product: Online Energy Saver 12 Offer
Your agreement number: (you'll need this to log into your personalised webpage)
Your Dual Fuel Direct Debit information: £47 paid on the 1st of every month
The gas payment within the Dual Fuel payment is: £23.59

Who can i call or contact if Scottish Power are not taking it seriously?
Owed out = lots.

Start again, as you consume Kwh with energy, £280 gas seems very low for a years use and surely you must realise that also.
£560/12 =£46.67 per month, so I'm not sure where the complaint is?

    Hi lovely,

When did you get that email from them? I work in the industry myself, although not for scottish power, but to be honest it does not sound like they have done anything wrong.

The fact is you you get discount from monthly direct debits and it does sound like this was agreed to as when you had that email you could have opted to change the DD or cancel it.

If you're unhappy with the direct debit amounts you can always change it, although when bill time comes (quarterly) you will either have paid enough to cover the bill in full, paid more than enough so even after the bill is paid you have credit left or not had your monthly payments high enough so that there is a remainder left to pay.

    Hope this helps.

Did you receive a contract pack in the post? You should have had a direct debit mandate in which that, which will explain terms and conditions of direct debits.

Hope this helps. Please try not to get too upset/worked up about it. It seems there is a misunderstanding but it seems this may have been on your part.

I do use that much i know its low.

I signed up to the switch to save money, but its worked out at much more, scot power were supposed to reduce my bills by £156 per annum, at the very least, have they upped their rates without telling me?

Your current spend is £560 per annum and they are proposing a direct debit of £47 /month which is £564 so about correct.

Sorry but I can't see what the problem is?

Do you know your annual consumption in kwh, and the tarrif you were on and the one you have transferred to?

Unless you were on a standard tarrif I think you were a bit optimistic expecting a 27% reduction.

No i got no letters or contract packs, this was online from the money supermarket link on the stickies on this forum, it sent me the results saying online saver 12 will save me £156 per year, so i went for it, and the site asked me for my bank details.

The problem is scot power quoted me a saving of £156 per year, this has not happened, if the rates are the same they have not upheld the quote and i would not have switched in the first place had i known it was the same. Its actuually more than i use, i just want to know who to contact instead of repeating my info again and again.

Thats is good going then, I pay my gas bill monthly, if it is below £70 this month I will be pleased, you may have to share tips on how to get such a low consumption for a year, however that said the figures seem correct, and as #3 suggests, you maybe misunderstanding the bill that was supplied, this is how it usually works, you pay £47 per month after month 3 you will be £141 in credit, butby then the bill is due, so they will deduct the bill amount from £141 and that will leave you in credit or arrears which should balance up by the year end.

Who did you move from, and what tarrif were you on?

It may well be that you are saving against what you would have been charged if you had remained with your previous supplier for the next 12 months.
