    Hello all,

makeup - I think paying for braces is one of many new reforms. DD1 certainly had all her work done for free - although her teeth were quite troublesome -.

This appointment is just a consultation as the dentist suggested that she may need braces in the future. I certainly won't be handing out wodges of cash unless it is deemed absolutely necessary. I totally disagree with this culture of everyone having to look perfect. It's very unsettling to see how homogeneous the ' human ideal' is becoming. I want to say something about eugenics but cannot think how to word it correctly.

I'm always staggered that these celebrity types who have procedure after procedure done on themselves cannot see just how freakish they appear to the rest of the world :rotfl:

Don't even get me started on photographic alterations. It's a huge part of the business I'm in & fortunately I'm able to show DD just what goes on so that she does'nt become obsessed with trying to achieve an impossible ideal.

She has a very healthy attitude so far & has become very keen on PE since starting High School & it's enjoying such activities that's important for both her physical & mental well being.

    Moving on,

I've not yet received the call to say i-phone is ready for collection, so have sent email.

Now up to 10 NSDs but will be out spending today as we're having eye tests done.

Work is gruesome again, The Goblin & Grumpy tag team were in full force this week. I requested a holiday request & overtime form. Goblin went mad, saying that if I was getting to work earlier than it wasn't 'their problem', I was paid to work my specific hours & only those.

I raised the issue of being asked to stay later on some occasions to finish off a task but she just started shouting again so I told her to just leave it, it was fine.

Grumpy just sat there throughout the whole conversation, later on he tried sucking up to me & when I didn't respond he said I was being '!!!!!!'. I remarked that having effectively worked an extra day for free he said " that's very nice of you". I retorted that I wouldn't make that mistake again.

I haven't bothered to speak to Gropey as it just feels like telling tales. On walking back in to the office Goblin & Grumpy were clearly !!!!!ing about me & he then starts to pick at me. I can counteract each snipe he makes as I am good at my job, efficient & accurate.

He is a weak & two faced man with no managerial skills & I have zero respect for him. He's now on holiday for 2 weeks so Goblin will be cosying up to Grumpy, wouldn't surprise me if she turns up on monday mornings again rather than do her aquacise class :rotfl:.

It makes for a miserable work day but is spurring me on to seek work elsewhere. Highly Annoying due back on monday so that will help keep me cheery.

Home-job earnings were down this week, will update funds news later, so I have decided to work next week although it's half term as money is tight at the moment.

Need to get up & ready for trip to town so will do the fact & figures later.

    Bye for now

Oh Lula! They can't be relied upon - wasn't it Gropey who was almost turning into a human being earlier this week? Good for you for saying you won't make the same mistake again, of working for free. Maybe you can make the point by bringing a book in, or even your own paperwork to do. They deserve it!

Top of the morning to you,

I'm not stressing abut work because it's a relatively small part of my life, it's not as though I'm there 5 days a week from 9-5.

I've been really busy for the last 2 weeks while Highly (not so) Annoying has been off so able to project an air of efficiency & distance. I've nothing to do next week so it could be tricky but DD has given me a few ideas of how to counteract her spite.

Anyway, as I said home-job was rubbish so I topped up the funds :
    Childcare £100,
    Presents £ 50
    Fun £ 70.

DD had her pocket money, but there wasn't enough left for me :(. I know, I know, I have just treated myself to a rather sexy new phone ;).

Headed off to town for eye tests; DDs are fine & I'm having my prescription for one eye reduced slightly which should counteract the slightly long sightedness that occurs around this time of life. End result was no cost :). I spent ages trying on new glasses though with DD advising & I'll be saving up for a new pair after christmas.

Popped into vodafone shop to see if my phone had arrived, it hadn't :( but I was assured it would be soon & that they'd call. We found a fab t shirt for DD with the Rolling Stones tongue on it in H&M for £6.99 & it was lonely so I bought myself a new top for work for just £9.99. These spends came from my pocket money so perfectly legal spending.

Felt faint with hunger so we paid for parking £3.30 & came home for lunch & I'd just loaded the washing machine when my phone rang ... vodafone shop have my i-phone , full range of emotions followed >:j:huh::rotfl:.

I was prepared to wander back later on or on sunday but DD gulped down her lunch & squeaked "let's go now" . I think she's quite excited.

So off we trundled again & tried very hard to act cool, whilst shoving each other out of the way to get in the shop first. Nice girl set it up & activated it for me ( having it delivered to shop makes sense ;)) I keep my same number as technically it's an upgrade to my account & the only minor irritation was that she couldn't transfer my contact across.

We popped into i-store where I refused to pay £25  for a case & had to remove the i-pod touch from DDs hands several times so we could leave the shop & then went to the other mall area where I bought a case & screen protector for just £16, paid for with my pocket money. Had to dive into Dotty Ps to investigate the half price sale & came out with another top for £10. Still from pocket money so still ok :p.

DD in need of pyjamas so we whizzed into New Look which always has fab ones & emerged with a pair of zebra print ones & a new pair of boots for herself too due to old ones starting to get a bit whiffy. Total spend was £28.98 & on the CC as my pocket money depleted. Paid another £2.20 in parking & then left before m purse was completely ravaged.

Needed to whizz to waitrose to get some veg, bread, milk & other bits & came out with 3 bags full & having spent just £21.35 - although on the CC again.

Got home just after 5 & started making soup to take to rellies today, dinner, stripping & remaking beds & removing crumpled laundry from machine while DD kindly entered contacts into the new phone.

Not the cheapest of days, but today should be a NSD. First load of laundry is in, the soup is made & we're also taking the quiches I bought weeks ago that have been sat in the freezer since DD declared they make her feel sick . Eggs really don't agree with her unless in a cake or of the easter variety.

DD1 is due over this morning & we'll then head off to visit rellies (hers - on long absent fathers side) who we've not seen for a year or more & are struggling with various issues. It's a grim situation & although very sympathetic & keen to support I'm not that emotionally involved. I'm playing more of a 'support the carer role'.

Poor DD1 is very upset about it & I need to make sure that she doesn't get too embroiled in it so it doesn't become detrimental to her own health; the last 3 nights have involved long conversations late at night & that's no good for me either.

We'll be out all day, so tomorrow will be all about catching up with chores & getting ready for he week ahead.

Need to sort out the CC balance & spends & update totals, clothes challenge etc... but that can wait as now I need to get up & ready,

    bye for now ...

Ouch, RL sounds tough for you via DD1 at the mo ... poor her, but its lovely that you can do "support the carer" ...

I love the greying-out of the new top, by the way :rotfl: hope it still looks good today :j

How brilliant you got your iphone! I've taken ages to do my contacts into the phone I got last year - I put a surge on recently when I finally realised that if I turned it 90 degrees, the letter keys got bigger :o:o:o

Hope today is ok for you all.

Hope it all goes okay for you lady. Goblin sounds grim, just comfort yourself with the fact that she probably has a carp home life to act like that!!! X

Hope today goes ok for you all from the sounds of it.

I too have soup on the go ready to freeze for work lunches and making it frugally using up the never ending bags of lentils I bought last year. Ho hum!

Not feeling that great today so no running and not much else. Just debating whether to do some cleaning to free up my mind and make some space for studying tonight while Masterchef is on!

Hello again & thanks for all lovely posts.

It seems that the rellie has come through the op succesfully & finally, after a brief but terrifying reaction either to the trauma of original fall/op or the cocktail of meds that followed, now seems to be making a good recovery :).

Saturday however, when we did our visiting & the situation was very grim, was a very distressing & depressing day & when we arrived home DD1 & I sat up until 4.30 in the morning talking. I've not yet caught up with the sleep but did spend all day sunday catching up on the laundry & chores & then rearranging some furniture to refresh the energy.

The ironing is still in the magic airing cupboard & will probably stay there a while longer but I scooped up 3 NSDs in a row from Saturday to Monday.

Today I had to top up DDs phone £15.00, & we shot down to waitrose after work & spent £21.09 on groceries which means my total grocery spend is now £158.95. I'm not making any excuses though; We're eating lots of veg & I am actually doing some cooking .

It's another 6 days to payday & due to the weekend trip my car is running low on fuel. We're having a fun day out on friday so I'll be needing to fill up before then & it needs a good clean too.

I'm bored with the debt busting now & just want to have a month's wages when I save some money rather than pay off the CC so I've drained and shuffled & juggled & have finally cleared the CC :j.

Good job too as today's consultation at the orthodontist revealed that DD will indeed require a full set of train tracks & some teeth removed as well :(. I think she was quite shocked & when he offered her the choice between having her last few baby teeth removed to start treatment sooner, or wait a few months & see if they come out of their own accord, she immediately opted for the latter option.

Can't say I blame her really; it gives her time to get used to the idea of having braces & the extraction if necessary & it also gives me a chance to start saving up. :T No prices/costs were mentioned at this stage but I will definitely be planning ahead. There will be a recall referral in 6 months time so I plan to save a much as I can during this time. I'm not ruling out the possiblity of using the CC to make payment - why not if I can earn some cashback ? ;) but the idea is to actually have the money ready.

I've a lot on this week so taking a mini break from MSE & will return soon with a shiny new saving diary :D

Thank you all for your support & encouragement :A

    xx

What a lot there is in this post!

Well, Congratulations :j:j:j on being debt free!!! Fantastic, and I'm really glad you've managed to pull it off by the date you wanted.

OTOH, I didn't realise the situation you were attending on saturday was quite so grim - I'm very glad it had a positive resolution.

Sorry to hear DD2 will definitely need orthodontic work - is it absolutely definite? Sounds awful :(

And finally, completely understand that you want to take some time off when you have a busy week - you sound like you're doing masses! Hope you find some time in there for some proper relaxation - oh, you have atrip out on friday! Enjoy :j
