That ^^^ is exactly why I got rid of Uncle Richard & haven't got a replacement. My current CC has £2000 limit which covers an emergency, the £5000 on Uncle Richard was an impulse buy waiting to happen :rotfl:
Or maybe we could come up with a timeshare arrangement?
Ooooh, now that is a plan worth thinking about :T
Rosa xx
Hello Rosa,
congratulations on achieving your goals to day.
Funny you mention the time share; I'm sure it's makeups parent who have a timeshare in a canal boat, & I've been wondering whether that might be the way forward for me in achieving the dream in the short term. Less responsibility & hassle but still get to have the fun. Need to investigate that further.
Also, while clearing out the paperwork I found the first few Uncle Richard statements; it's only just over a year ago that I owed £3,800 on that from the original debt. Now down to the last couple of hundred :j.
If I can do it anyone can.

Very important, today's goals. Well for an exhausted former achievement-addict anyway.
I have seriously discussed the idea of sharing a van with my mum, but given up on the idea due to being at opposite ends of the country - it would be just silly to drive 350 miles to collect and return. Hiring via companies is hugely expensive - I suspect due to them being luxurified for people who wouldn't take them otherwise - but it ought to be possible to hire among friends somehow, if all the eventualities were discussed and agreed in advance. I haven't tried it with the car, but that's because it is my s**'s-law insurance policy (if I have it, I won't need to get to the other end of the country in a hurry).
I salute your defeat of Uncle Richard :T and will be trying to emulate you better over the next few months.

Here I am again; Sunday night & wishing it was Friday.
The home is clean & tidy ish, school uniform all washed, aired & ironed, shoes polished, homework done & bag packed. We're bathed & hair washed, nails trimmed & polished & wardrobes bearing fresh clothes.
The fridge & cupboards are plentiful, the car has half a tank of fuel & I have a job to go to. My daughters are safe & happy & I have so much to be grateful for & for that I am thankful.
It may not be an exciting life, but it is rewarding in many ways & I feel serene & that right now at this specific moment in time, my worlds are all spinning in balance with each other.
I have to weigh in tomorrow morning & I do not expect to have lost anything. I've eaten too much rubbish despite my pledge to myself so I have only disappointed myself. I have a book in which I wrote my weight & measurements, I also wrote in all I had consumed & the exercise I had done. I only got to Wednesday & then forgot all about it .
I've just filled in the the other 4 days with a brief note saying that I ate too much & didn't exercise enough, although I did do a work out on friday.
Tomorrow I'll start again & I'll just keep trying until it becomes as much a habit as my Big Pink Book of money stuff.
Talking of money stuff, I have shuffled & juggled like mad & managed another payment to the CC. It now has a balance of £150Well, I think so as not all transactions have appeared yet so there is a degree of guesswork involved, you know how I hate an untidy balance & trying to make a blind payment in advance of seeing transactions can be a hazardous thing.
Do I have money for this week ?
In my everyday purse which holds all the cards & household expenses I have £30 of M&S vouchers, a £5 Boots voucher, a nectar card with about £8 on it & 1p :rotfl:
It's a very shiny 1p but also rather lonely. I keep a penny in there to remind me of times past when money was really scarce.
I do also have my pocket money purse & that has £20 in it so if necessary I can use that, but I hope no necessity arises.
I've started saving 20ps now. They are for when winter sets in & I can't get washing dry. There's a launderette near here so I can take bundles of towels, bedding & stuff & put it in the driers there. I'm going to try to not have stuff hung around the home, I hate it & I'm not sure it's good for health.
I have also taken the bold decision to change the times the heating comes on & goes off. It's now on for just an hour in the morning. The afternoon / evening time remains unchanged for now.
Time for bed,
G'night

Sounds good, Lula. And if I can manage it, I'd like to be in on the timeshare for the campervan!
You do sound serene, you know, thats the right word.... still thinking about ways to get clear of debt, but happy within yourself. Thats lovely.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hello again & yes it was indeed a Hippy Monday; I tried out the new long floaty skirt wearing it with layers on the top half to keep me warm & boots underneath to keep my toes warm. The skirt is still very long & such fine indian cotton fabric that I probably won't wear it outside again for a few months. Grumpy asked what was with the hippy look & would I like dandelion coffee or some free love as my first task :rotfl:
I opted for the basic office coffee & politely declined the other offer too. We had a great morning & when Goblin arrived at 1, it became very clear to me, that she is indeed just a moody, cantankerous old bat. The easy atmosphere dissolved within half an hour of her arrival.
It's been NSD number 9 & I'm very pleased with that.
On the other hand, it seems my weight loss plan is a bit confused.
There has been a gain of 2lbs
Clearly I need to work harder on the exercise & must not encourage DD to make cakes at the weekend.
I can hear Davina calling, bye for now.0 -
OO timeshare on campervan..tots up spare dosh in jarBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Grumpy's coming on quite a bit! The office ensemble sounds brill, so I'm not surprised2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Ooh hello, just popping by before I disappear between the pages of my new read.
Not much to report really; NSD number 10 which is good. Free tasty loaf of bread from client at work + free giant cookie for DD ( promise I didn't even lick a corner) came home & discovered a bag of free apples & a bag of free mushrooms on the door step :T.
No home-job work at all today, it's gone very quiet out there & I'm feeling very relieved that I'm within easy paying off CC distance.
I logged in to internet banking earlier & my account was £19 in credit . Realised that the payment for new phone has not yet gone outwhich means it's not due to arrive yet
.
Hoping it will arrive by friday as we're in town anyway for eye tests. Next week is orthodontist consult so no doubt I'll be needing the CC for that.
I now realise why the cat never liked any of the beds, basket or blankets I provided; he's a money saving cat.
I was using a primarni bag to store all paperwork ( brown paper so can burn the whole thing) that needs to be destroyed & left it on the table.
Cat jumps, gets in the bag turns around so that his head is by the opening, curls up & promptly goes to sleep. The money I've wasted on trying to find him his own space & all he really wants is a cheap paper bag.
Good kitty, we've taught you well, reuse & recycle :rotfl:
Hoping for plenty of work tomorrow or the funds will be left wanting.
G'night

Do you really need to pay for braces? that just sounds really American?
I'm shocked and disappointed already in the proposed reforms of the NHS but I really thought orthodontic work for young people as recommended by your dentist was free????I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0
