Hello all,
yes Skinty, we are hormone central here at the moment, although I admit that even when vile she is quite lovely & keeps apologizing saying that she doesn't know where the anger comes from - bless.
Work was great fun again today as I was incredibly busy & the Goblin went home at 12.00. Had to call lovely contractor for some details on a job & he then rang me this evening for a chat which was great as we worked closely on Project Stress last year but I've hardly seen him this year so haven't caught up for weeks.
I did a quick whiz into Sainsbugs & am fully stocked with food just for me for next week. It was odd as I didn't buy any of our usual stuff. Interetingly, I spent less than £25 on food but had to stock up on more luscious wine. At first glance the shelf appeared empty, but after scrablling around on my hands & knees I managed to locate 2 bottles right at the back on the bottom shelf :j
Nope, I didn't care a damn about how I looked - palatable wine at £2.50 a bottle is worth getting linen trousers all creased & dusty for.
The excitement is now building & it looks like the dear weather Goddess is being benevolent to me, so far.
Have to go by train tickets tomorrow morning & have so man other things to do as well - need to buy gift for Dad s birthday & also send off 2 cards. Have to get all laundry done so we can pack DDs bag on sunday.
Need to get an early night so have anaesthetized myself with 2 glasses of wine & am now off to sleep.
Will pop on with updates tomorrow if I get time ...
Already jumping about inside :j:D:j:D:j
G'night

That is *so* sweet :grouphug:

Have a fantastic time today!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Well,
that's what it says on the Hard Rock Calling website, but we wont be getting there that early. It'll be nearer 6 or 7 when we rock up, but that's fine with me cos I'm only there to see The Killers really, although Kaiser Chiefs on the side is a great appetiser :j.
Been keeping my head focused today - have so much to get organised for the next 3 days & while DD is excited about tonight, her main focus is naturally, on her own forthcoming trip.
I had 2 loads of laundry on the line by about 9.30 & one of my neighours asked if I was still getting rid of my tent as she may be interested ... I said I'd only want £20 for it , but suggested that we try putting it up first to see if it's what they're looking for. The other neighbours haven't mentioned it since so first come, first served.
I do wonder if £20 is a fair ask ? It's only been used 3 times & is a big 4 man one that can be stood up in, with separate bedroom area. Well, will just have to see what happens.
Whizzed down to train station & lovely helpful man & I had a chat about the gig & who was playing & when he said that out travel cards would be a mere £11.75 I nearly hugged him. Fortunately for him, there was a large sheet of glass between us.
Hurray for free railcard - last trip up to town to see DDs fave band cost £30. I'll def be getting another railcard.
Shame I forgot to get a timetable in all the excitement ... :rotfl:
Next stop was the torturous Tatco but it had to be done as there's some stuff that Sainsbugs dont do & I want to make sure that I have absolutely everything I need for the attack phase of the diet so have no excuses whatsoever to stray form the path.
I also bought some snacky food bits to take with us for tonight - will be feeding DD before we go, but will prob need some extra energy & I dont like festival food prices & it's mostly gak unless you're luck enough to have Leon s healthy feast platters on site.
So, Tatco came to £31.08 although some of that was household & cleaning & the total for my grocery spends for the month is now edging towards about £185. I could have made do with what's in stock while DD away, but such an ideal opportunity for the attack phase of diet it has to be done.
Also far more appealing than decorating DDs room which was original plan. I've asked home-job boss for extra work next week so it's just going to be fun fun fun - NOT.
CC statement in today & I've earned another £5 cashback. Once this next week is out of the way, I'm telling DD that we're super frugal until hol which is now just 4 weeks away . And, I'm only doing home-job for 3 of those weeks & have no chance whatsoever of earning another £150 for spends in those 3 weeks.
Spending has been wildly out of control recently & I must reign it all back in. I managed to get Dad's birthday gift for just £15 so that fund still has £175 in it ... taking £35 of it with me tonight in case I see anything for sis 's birthday next month. Really wish she was coming with me tonight.
I'm not taking any of my personal pocket money as that's for holiday so it's just going to be whatever's left in the Fun fund - which is about £58 for any drinks etc ... I don't do merchandise.
In between all the frenzy of shopping & washing I have also cleaned the bathroom & washed my room, the bathroom & kitchen floors ( can't quite remember when I did it last :shhh:)
Need to get another 2 loads of laundry done so can pack all DDs stuff & then will strip her bed & do that during the week. I also need to do tidying, vacuuming & dedusting & cut the grass at some point before going back to work on monday.
Right, got to whizz to post office to buy stamps ( forgot to steal them from work)& post a couple of cards & then home again to try to get vacuuming done before DD finishes school.
Very excited now:j:dance::dance::dance::j:D

Just got home & had a great time ... rained without stopping but great atmosphere anyway & I got a fab t shirt for my sis ... other than that I didnt' spend anything
Feet ache like hell & DD reckons she's never walked so much in her life & is not getting up til sunday ... I'm off for a restorative glass of vino now - have to finish it by sunday night. I'd best have some cheddars with it then too
xx0 -
Glad it was so great! Had a chuckle at DD being so tired she's not getting up till Sunday, bless! I can't believe you had a glass of wine when you got in! Actually, I can't believe you logged on here! But of course, the adrenalin level is so high when you've been to something like that.
You know, as well as being such a fantabulous person, you're also a real role model to me in how clean you keep your place. I know you're saying you can't remember when you did the kitchen floor, but I really am horrendous with regular cleaning. I don't want to do any of it over the weekend, so I need to find time during the week. What time of day do you try for, Lula?2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning all,
actually Karmacat ... I didnt' have any wine. Once I'd laid down & my feet stopped throbbing I just zonked out until about half seven this morning.
Feet still aching now, & I think I may just have to throw out my 'festival boots' as in spite of various repairs & resoling, they are not that comfortable any more. I have a great pair that are just perfect for any type of long outdoors event but they are just so un pretty
Whilst still on the issue of style; DD started off by refusing to wear her kag that I'd bought . I then pointed out that people were wearing bin bags, bright yellow plastic ponchos & various bizarre handmade headgear items to keep dry & that style was not the main issue here. As the rain started to seep through her black, distressed denim jacket she relented & spent the rest of the evening regularly updating me on the fact that she was still 'completely dry' in a voice of awe & wonderment :rotfl:.
The train journey home was very amusing in that we were seated near 2 couples who had also been to the gig but rather than reflecting on that & what a great time they'd had, they spent the journey sharing pictures of their new bathrooms (including pipework & loos) on their i-phones & discussing exact details of trunking etc .
If this is an example of how an i-phone will change my life, then I'm running in the opposite direction with my trusty old phone bearing testament to the fact that I am not a lame royal blue anorak & beige cords wearing bore :rotfl:.
I'm sure Brandon - who is probably the only man who should ever be allowed to wear skinnies - would be bemused by his fan base.
There is washing in the machine & cleaning & packing to be done & I'm aiming for a No Spend Weekend. I'm fully intending on having a pyjama day today as I've planned ahead so that we don't need to buy anything.
Karmacat - I'm not sure that I do keep the place that clean. I do like the kitchen & bathroom to be shiny & the place to be tidy-ish but I find that too much cleaning & tidying is at the expense of actually having fun.
As there are 2 of us & a cat here I do need to do more regular upkeep than you probably would. Cat loves to leave piles of fluff everywhere, we all 'moult' & DD is a whizz at crumb scattering. Add to that we have white floorboards & stairs which lead directly up from the front door (great when it's raining) & the dust that home-job creates is horrendous; so I to if I leave it for more than a few days it soon looks like a squat
.
I tend to vacuum once or a week & it's usually when I can't bear seeing the clumps of cat fluff on the living room rug that spurs me on.
I tend to wipe down the kitchen surfaces everyday with ecover squirty & wash all the cupboards & 'usually' the floor once a week on a sunday evening with ecover multipurpose.
The bathroom cleaning ('whatever own brand' cream cleaner since I can no longer find ecover one anywhere ??? & ecover limescale squirty for the taps) & main hoovering, generally takes place on a friday morning if I'm not off shopping. I try to get it done first thing so the rest of the day is mine.
I usually do mirrors, tv & computer screens & windows about every 2 weeks & for that I use good old tap water sprinkled on an e-cloth' cheap, easy & no smears.
I also use ecover washing up liquid ( no dishwasher) daily & using those eco products is one thing I will not compromise on. Have been using them since DD was born & although I dont use the laundry products as just too expensive & not that great results, I do use non-bio stuff.
Yes, there are cheaper alternative products out there but I always buy in bulk when on offer & it's a fundamental part of my being that I am far too lazy to be brewing up potions from scratch & I tend to think that there's no harm in buying stuff if it's done with thought & reasoning.
I always try to use a mix of ethics, patriotism, animal welfare & envirocare along with moneysaving; ie I always buy fairtrade, tea, sugar & bananas, home-grown seasonal produce where possible & try to avoid products from organisations who I despise - there'll be no nescafe in my house& I don't ever remember buying non-free range eggs.
It's not always possible to live within my means & ethics but I try, & if I step over one line I try to make sure I balance it out in another area.
Lecture over
I'm off to remove my laundry from the wonder that is the mechanical rock beater.
Back later with more riveting money & domestic exploits ... :rotfl:0 -
Its not a lecture! I asked you! For help - and its helped me enormously, thank you. Interesting you used the word "shiny" on going into your bathroom .... I really need to get my act together on this, thank you2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I have been such a pig today & I am thoroughly ashamed. I ate nothing other than 2 mini sausage rolls & some mentos ( my latest minty addiction) I was too excited & scared that I would need to use festi loos :rotfl:
I'm on a mission to rid the home of every possible source of temptation so have guzzled tortillas, crisps, snack packs of cheddars, sweets, etc etc etc & all washed down with 3 glasses of wine. I feel grotesquely overexpanded.
The fact that we went on a 30 minute bike ride has probably not offset my carbohydrate thigh print at all. I've been hobbling about all day feeling creaky & achey & when DD proposed a bike ride I groaned but I actually felt much better when we got back.
Until I started stuffing tortillas & glasses of wine down my neck, that is.
All the essential laundry is done & so is the vacuuming. The garden smells divine as both the honeysuckle & jasmine are blooming vigorously. The carrots are looking good & so plentiful that DD did a bit of thinning out. The leeks are still very weedy looking & the parnsips are finally looking as though they might turn into something edible.
I have tidied up & sorted through all my paperwork & filled in every possible survey. I have another £9 in my paypal account now so if any mad ebay urges occur I can at least use that.
I have also wrapped & parcelled up the t shirt for my sis, & also the other waterproof jacket from Amazon that arrived in the wrong size. This amazes me as it is clearly labelled M, although the packing sheet included states that I ordered a small. I will be requesting a full refund so that will be £12 to go back to my Amazon account.
We've had blue sky & radiant sun here this afternoon ... typical as Grumpy was off to Hard Rock Calling today & will absolutely revel in it on monday.
Tomorrow I need to get the ironing done, help DD pack all her stuff & cut the grass.
We've had a letter from the High School to say which tutor group & house she'll be in but I am somewhat irked by having the letter addressed to : Mr/Mrs Hula . Bearing in mind all the forms I have had to fill in & the letters I have written I find it absolutely infuriating that no one has bothered to take note of my title & gender.
Furthermore it enrages me that in this supposedly modern age, letters to parents are still addressed first to a 'Mr'. What kind of patriarchal sexist bullsh!it is that.
I am neither male nor married & have made this quite clear in all my correspondence. So before she has even set foot in the school, I'm already questioning the record keeping ability of the admin staff, the gender equality in the place & whether anyone actually bothers to read what a parent has written on an application form.
This does not bode well.
Rant over
Moooooving on; I have gained another NSD for my collection so must be near the target now. Will have to check my sig for sure.
Need my bed now,
G'night
