13 Moons part 2 - Freebird & Frugabulous

Karma - was just over dropping off a wee post at yours & while I was out you were here :T
So, one x evil fitness work out completed :j. 1 x bath enjoyed, 1 x DD collected & 1 x bottle of pretty rose wine in progress. For anyone that likes something light & fruity then I fully recommend this meadow brook stuff from sainsbugs. It's slipping down like a dream; fresh fruity & perfect over a glass full of ice ( does what it says on the tin). currently on a 2 for £5 deal so go buy now ... but not in the KT area as all those supplies are mine
I do have a slight issue over quantity .. they reckon 6 glasses in a bottle but I'm on number 2 & there are definitely NOT another 4 left.
Very keen to get rid of old sewing machine in table now, but cat seems to have adopted it as his latest sleeping place. This is after he has moved on from the desk where the old pc lives. I suspect that he will sleep just about anywhere as long as it's NOT the fab & furry leopard print bed I bought him.
Neighbouring cat is becoming a pest; keeps breaking in through the cat flap at unusual hours to steal our furry beasts food & waking me up during the process:mad:. I'm contemplating setting up camp on the stairs with atomiser in hand so I can squirt him as soon as his head appears through the cat flap & that will hopefully put him off.
I'm already feeling a bit bad about stabbing the Goblin in the back, it's goes against my *dignity at all costs* ethos & I really dont want to be seen to sink to those levels. If only Grumpy had a set of balls it would'nt have got this bad.
The reason I was there at work today was essentially because no one else in the office was, & Gropey feared an onslaught of phone calls ... there were 2. People are starting to talk about how long we can keep going with no work & a large wages bill & new equipment
repayments ... & who will be the first to go when the staff cutback occur.
It is deathly quiet out there. Our contractors are taking on night work to keep going & our ship is almost becalmed. I expressed my concerns to YCDD today & he told me not to worry. Admittedly, he is the most laid back person I've ever met & has a large stash of cash & no commitments, but he has a point.
Worrying about what may or may not happen, wont change what happens. If & when it eventually happens. Take each day as a fresh opportunity as it arrives & enjoy it as best we can.
I've been coccooned for so long in survival, debtsville & parenting that I've forgotten how to not think ahead & just take life as it happens.
Watched 'Yes Man' on dvd the other night & I found myself identifying with the main character rather too much.
Must go to other table to glug wine now ...0 -
Actually, now that we're thinking of our little witches coven, I have a very light bottle of rose that would go down well, just as you describe. And if you have a glass first thing you arrive, by the time you leave you'll be sober .... this is A Good Thing all round :j
But, hmmm, some serious issues there for you at work. Worry *is* useless, its true. But forethought is useful - working on paying stuff off as you are, at 0%, means you're not paying 25% or crazy stuff on a spur of the moment credit card - that makes a big difference! And not taking on any continuing debts is important.
Thinking of saving money, tho - how's your veg patch coming along? I have so much to organise yet in my garden (that patio has just assumed very high priority) but I know I want to grow the high value crops - salad, fruit, the expensive veg. And the blackberry bushes round here are going to be *stripped* this year
- they were still out when I got here last year, and nobody was picking them, not even the birds, but I didn't have the time or the resources to do anything. I will this year :j:j:j

Lula,
Minimum prep is to have an action plan ready for if things go pear shaped at work. Sometimes these things come with limited warning. So knowing exactly what to do if it happens cuts out thinking time etc., especially as when these things happen it can be upsetting and make it not so easy to think straight.
When things look dodgey workwise we immediately cut back spending to minimum, update cv's, research on the internet and get a folder of the links for signing on, job hunting websites etc.. Not sure if you've been there long enough for redundancy money, if not it can be worth starting the jobhunting now.
Well that's what we've done in the past, and it's worked out OK. It did reduce the worry too knowing the plan was in place.0 -
No wine for me until D Day of next Thurs post 6pm at the earliest after the dreaded exam is over and done with and work over for the day!
Now be careful with that consumption - measure out with water how much your glass holds and then be surprised at over 1/3 of a bottle in a glass hence 3 glassess later its all gone!
Ran this morning, phew hard work now about to start revising boo! Lots of biscuits to keep me company this afternoon and must remember to log off in a bit too!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
Lula my favourite gays got jobs yesterday after being made redundant a few months ago. It was a kind of done deal but is ACE news so there'll be wine here too tonight. Enjoy X'The road to a friends house is never long'0

:hello: to all
It was morning when I first logged in but have been pottering in between posts so now it's not.
Karma - I quite agree re light glasses of wine, mixed with some food & some times = sobriety to drive within safety & legal limits. I do some silly things when under the influence, but driving is not one of them.
I value my own & other peep's lives & my licence too highly. It is just another 3 months until my 3 speeding points can come off my licence & as I'm due the 10 year photo update in just 6 months I will renew my licence & it will be all clean & shiny - shame about the old hag in the photo but never mind :rotfl:
Thanks all for career/ work advice :A. I'm not too concerned at the moment as I think that what will be, will be. Although work is quiet, my hours there are few & very cheap compared to some of the contractors. In fact I had this same discusssion with Highly Annoying ( who is now almost my best friend there & not so annoying but that's his name so we'll stick with it) & we worked out that I cost the same for one month of my hours as just 3 days as the main contractor  . And he doesnt bring in rock cakes for the boss or wear tops that hint at Daphne & Delores for Grumpy to peek at :rotfl:.
I don't have a mortage to pay so would be able to get some help with the rent & council tax although I think that any savings might have some impact on entitlement, & of course I still have the home-job to keep us in crunchie ice creams & rose.
My CV is laughable - I've always worked to live & am happy to do a variety of things to keep the money coming in. I've never had a career as such & should I become unemployed or unemployable, would happily do voluntary work for organisations that would also provide some of what we might need.
I've lived through it before when DD1 was very small & although it was tough, there's always a way to make ends meet. Might be a good idea to do some budget tightening now though, in order to stash some cash away.
I have already applied for the 2 months free railcard - perfect for trip to see Killers at the end of June (:j) & will also be making use of the half price offer of a year long railcard. Being only half an hour from LondonTown & the wealth of entertainment to be had there, I need to make a start on using it
I've hung 2 wash load out already & am about to do the 3rd & the inspection of the veg patch has revealed that some savage beast has been digging up the leeks  & also using the strawberry patch as a litter tray . Carrot seeds are growing slowly but surely & there are now about 15 parsnips visible.
Due to extra home-job work last week, I have some spare cash so might meander to garden centre to investigate raised bed, hopps, netting etc this afternoon. Must now go feed DD & hang washing out to dry in lovely free fresh air.
Back later

Poor little veg patch! You might be able to get deterrents to the nanimals free tho - are there any shrubs that need pruning? You could stick the branches in the ground ... buddleia's great for that, it grows like anything, and the branches are really very straight .... good luck with it - hope you see the intruder and drench them with water
And I love the whole life philosophy behind what you've written about jobs and income, gorgeous.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hello again,
first thing to advise is that I am on day 2 of Booze Training. Having reconciled myself to doing the pick up of girls ... I was later informed that I wasnt doing any lifts at all this time so  then& now .
Had a very pleasing afternoon driving to & then wandering around gardeny places. In the first one I noted they had huge pots ( easily big enough to fit all of downstairs kids & DD as well ) at remarkably reasonable prices. A wide variety of shapes & sizes & colours, although I do tend to be boring & favour plain terracotta.
I also found some of the lovely luminaire paper bags for tealights. they were only £3.99 for 4 so I bought 2 lots, one with a star design on them & the other with a 'firework' design. I also discovered some amazing scented tealights for just £1.50 for 6 , so grabbed 2 boxes & may well return for more . The lady was very helpful & sadly they didnt have the netting I wanted, but she told me exactly where I could get some.
So, we went there & for just £5.70 I got enough to cover the patch & 2 bag of the pegs for £6.98. The netting is sold on a roll 8 metres wide so you can have as much as you like, brilliant
All that lot came out of my cash supplies via home-job so not really affecting usual budget.
Popped in to the co op on the way home as DD fancied a baguette before clubbing, no fresh ones left, but packs of 2 of the part baked ones were half price at 42p, so I grabbed 2. I also spotted a tray of 25 meatballs reduced due to £1.50 as the sell by date was today. They are now nestling in the freezer & will do 3 meals for us. Total spend on groceryish items was £ 5.13 so total Household spends now at £215.70p
So a spend day, but I did get 3 x £2 coins in my change at garden centres so have added them to the pot which now holds £141.
DD now gone to club & dear father called to ask when we were seeing him, so will pop in there briefly tomorrow & plan to see Grandmother in the same car trip too.
All laundry gathered in & filling up the airing cupboard in an alarming manner ... will tackle that tomorrow.
Netting now installed on veg patch & his royal furriness immediately demonstrated how he coud walk straight across it & sharpen his claws on the wooden edges. We've now banged some sticks in to raise the netting but I still want to get some raised beds. Saw some lovely sleepers that would be perfect for making edges ... at £49 each . We also came across amazing 'features' in the format of victorian folly's, gothic ruins & garden rooms. We both fell in love with the gothic ruin ... but not the starting price ... £2,099. Yes, I did put the comma in the right place .
I have a few bricks lying around, might try to start creating my own :rotfl:.
I have 5 more NSDs to find in order to achieve my target & intend for tomorrow to be the next one.
Seriously need to work on the budget & pay a wodge off the CC next week.
Bye for now

Hey lula-hula
Just popping on to catch up on your news. Sounds like all is good with you, and your posts are making me laugh, as ever.
Thanks for the sainsbugs rose wine tip - 2 for £5 sounds like a bargain! Is it quite sweet? I like a sweet rose.
Also - spooky - I watched Yes Man the other day too. Read the book last year and really enjoyed it. The film is nothing like the book, but did make me chuckle in places (and want to punch the air and shout 'yes!').
Might join you in booze training, I think after a day at work, giving a talk, a trip to Lidl, and 2 loads in the WM I think a gordons is in order...Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

hi museumworker,
your diary is on my catch up list
As to the wine - it really is lovely, so easy to drink although I do have about 6 ice cubes in it as well to stretch it a bit.
This is the blurb on the bottle :
" Meadow Brook, Select Rose, Fantastically fruity, soft & fresh ... "
It's not as sweet as a Zinfandel - which I find too sweet - but is very very, very yummy.
I've just re read the label & it turns out that it's produced & bottled in Norwich, UK so even better & at 8% vol, no hangover included :j
I only managed to get 4 glasses out of my bottle, but I do like a large glass
I'll be drinking this all summer ... hic0
