Hi guys,
all ok here thanks. I've done a bit of washing today & then psent the rest of it in the garden planting pretty things.
A bit self indulgent but DD has been mixing up the priorities on my lovefilm account again & another Twilight film arrived this morning. I cant bear them as I truly cringe at the lead female s 'acting'. I reckon my cat has more talent. And facial expressions.
I dug up & split some pretty stripy grasses & put them in the empty pots by the steps along with some of the lobelias so the front area looks a bit more cheery now.
I also planted some of the lobelias around Connie & Victoria to encourage bees & pollination. I'm determined they will bear at least one fruit each this year. Just to prove the Goblin wrong.
After closer inspection I have now discovered that there are definitely 3 parnsip shoots :j. I'm really winging it with this growing my own & have a list of stuff that hasnt yet been bought, let alone planted. I cant extend the plot until we have another deluge of rain as it's such hard work lifting all the turf. I might try to grow some peas in a pot & really need to get a proper salad planter so the indigenous slugs dont get too fat.
I've checked my insurance docs & I do have accidental cover ... but only on non portable electrical goods.
I'm impressed with the cooker shop customer service so far. I had a text earlier to remind that I would be getting the delivery tomorrow & at 8.30 I received a call to say it would be here between 7 & 11 am. Groan, will have to be up at 6.30 to make sure I'm decent.
I cleaned the old one so it's not too grimy for men to carry & then ventured behind it to clean floor & sides :o:eek: NASTY. I am very ashamed.
Plan for tomorrow is to be up early & glugging coffee while doing the ironing, timing it so that I properly wake up just as I finish it.
I need to do a through hoover & bathroom clean too as it's been a week since the last indoor chores were done. This means getting a lovely lie in & free day on monday when I hope to get out & about visiting some May Fayres
Best get off to bed now in readiness for early start & my first NSD of the challenge.
G'night

Hi guys,
Hi Lula

I like that :rotfl:

:o:o I'd never even heard of salad planters, so I googled them - interesting! They look quite deep. I have a couple of things I might re-use instead of buying new. A windowsill box, full of *very* old compost, it has some grape hyacinths, some chives and lots of old mint in it, they could be planted out, they were just in there for transport. The other thing I have is old cat litter trays :rotfl:they haven't been used for cat litter for about 5 years, and they *were* thoroughly disinfected, I guarantee  but they're not quite as deep like the pix of the salad planters on amazon. I do want to plant *something* salady, but if I do it will have to be placed on the garden, just to help with a tiny bit of weed control

Good luck on your NSD - lets go for it together!
I'll be planting out more seeds today - more salad, maybe more peas and some sweetcorn. Need to see how much room I have left!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
BIG thumbs UP to Currys for excellent customer service :T. Had a call at 7.15 to say they'd be here in half an hour & they were. Pleasant, friendly & very efficient & clean staff. Felt very sorry for poor chap though; one of their vans got nicked during the night & all his tools were on board
. Makes me very  when that happens as often tradesmen have stuff passed on to them by dads or mentors & it's a personal loss as well as the hassle of replacing everything.
In spite of that drama, he was very nice & I'm loving that Manchester accent :happyhear.
Cooker looks huge as 10mm wider than previous old thing, but now fits the gap perfectly & is the same height as counters so much better aesthetically. It's very shiny & we've had the inaugural test run by making cakes for brekkie - yum.
As soon as the guys had left, I put the washing machine on. When it finished I was not happy; turns out that the red strip on DDs new ( & otherwise white) bedding runs. All my whites were in the wash with it & now they're all pink . Amazingly, the white bit of the bedding was unaffected. I've removed the bedding & am now doing the rest of the wash again. Thank goodness I only put one of the bedding sets in, will wash both separately after other wash done.
Cant go & buy any run remover as it's a new month & I'm having a NSD - priorities & all that :rotfl:.
Wonder if I should have added a bit of Stardrops to the wash ....
Karma - I am seriously considering using one of my extra recycling boxes for salad stuff as they're quite deep. We have loads of crate style boxes as they're excellent for throwing kids toys in & then stashing them under the bed, one for lego, one for barbie, one for wooden bricks etc etc etc ...
Feds- your patch must be huge ... I now realise that to do this properly & supply ourselves most of the year, we need to lose a lot of lawn ( :j) to make room. I need more fruit as I've been storing pretty jars for years with a view to making jam ... trouble is fresh fruit is soooo tasyt, it rarely used to make it home from the allotment, let alone into a jar.
Right, I'm off to have a whizz round the diaries & then go & wonder at the shininess of new cooking machine0 -
Lula, sometimes Morrisions have the big black pots they keep fresh cut flowers in on special, 10 for a quid? I used them when I ventured into the growing peppers, corn and tomatoes (marbles!) malarky. I have gone back to growing flowers this year although with the Guinea pigs I should grow salad leaves at least...... anyway the big pots are normally near the garden bit underneath display tables hidden I think because they are such a bargain!

Ooh thanks for that tip Buffy ... am sure there's a morrisons somewhere in the area ... just cant remember where at the moment.0

A new cooker. How exciting!
It is indeed - it has handles that work too & is so lovely & clean & gleaming that I will probably only use it for making cakes :rotfl:
Separate grill which is great so we might have cheese on toast occasionally too
Funny how last night, the lighter thingy we used for the old one broke & rather than get all stressed over having to buy a new one, I just chucked it in the bin.
You'll be very proud of me, I'm scything through my wardrobe again & cleaning everywhere as the cooker makes everything else look grubby.
