    Hello fellow frugallers:j
No money wasted here at Gnat Bottomed Towers. We've been moving our savings around so that we can each take out one of the new NS&I thingies [see Martin's email today]

Am off on holiday for a week to Cornwall shortly- am already a member of the Scottish National Trust [cheaper that joining the Nat Trust we found] but wondered if anyone had any tips for good inexpensive places to go/eat [we're based near Padstow]. Weather permitting we'll do some walking and will selfcater bar one meal when we'll treat ourselves. Thanks very muchly!

Had a lovely frugal(ish) day, Managed to get 6 bags of grated cheese from Mr M £1 each,dh and i Had a lovely 6 inch steak, cheese and salad subway, we had to take 2 tins of food in for each which will be going to the sally army. We then went strawberry picking, over a kilo of strawberries for £4.50,these are going to be made into jam tomorrow.
Dh also had the settlement figure agreed for his van today so hopefully he can get a van next week.
    hope everyone is well:)

    make semolina ;)

at work they use it to dust some of the breads, including the submarine rolls. have been thinking of trying the same thing at home, as I love the flavour of the sub rolls :)
:rotfl: yes i could eat lots of pudding! i didnt know that was what was on Sub rolls.. that's great! thank you!:D
I use it (or polenta) underneath bread and pizza - just a small handful on the baking tray. It gives a nice crisp texture to the underneath.
humm, interesting. i'll try this too :D

You could make gnocchi. Google 'semolina gnocchi' as there is also a potato version. It's savoury, cheesy bake, a good rib-sticking food but I'm afraid I've never made it myself so don't have a preferred recipe.
:D sounds lush! i'll definaltey have to try this. thank you!

    hi everyone

not a frual day as had to go get double sided tape to frame a stitched sampler present (for a wedding tomorow!), as my OH had left the shed locked and taken the key to work with him and wont be back till 10pm! ok so i made the most of it and went to Asda and got some woopsies, washing liquid (WHY do they keep changing the bottles and scents?!? it's so time consuming to cost/eco compare each time!) and petrol. but they didnt have the tape so B&Q to the rescue... but nearly 4.00!! i will be moaning about this later!

*hugs* to minnie and anyone else feeling the pinch. the news said spending in april was highest in april for years... well at least we know it wasnt us!

~ i borrowed a friends mum to help advise on the dress for the wedding... she was fab! she said to wear the black one i already own, and has lent me shawls and fancy hair clips to match the peacocks on it. so some of the money saved has been spent on a bag that will get lots of use.

take care everyone. i'm not sure when i'll be back as we're still moving and now have tennants with a due date so i HAVE to remove the computer from the old house = silly situation i know but oh well. life was all too stressful to do it all in one go and we didnt have to so i didnt pannic but i cant put it off any longer. we've been there 2 weeks today and my computer and the working shower are still 2 miles down the road!

Good luck, we'll still be here when you get back!

Bit of a downer today: discovered that some work I'm doing doesn't allow me to claim for expenses (I didn't read the contract properly). The pay is 'all in'. There's a fair bit of travel so not getting reimbursed will make quite a difference. :( I'm not managing nearly as well as I imagined I would and am going to have to dig into my small hoard of savings - disappointing. Oh well, there's lots in the store cupboard...

    Evening everyone.

Low spend day for me again just a swim and then popped into Iceland on my way home for some cream cheese for the dinner.

Not my usual haunt but got a few bargains again on that and things I needed - bread, milk etc.

Can't believe how cheap the milk was! Usually get organic but wasn't going to bother going to Mr T would have gone to the offy so stuck with that.

    Fingers crossed now slowlyfading! x
