  • rising - I can certainly see why you're annoyed - that's not helpful at all. It's not fair to advertise something and then not do it, is it? grr.

    Sorry to hear about your experience with the house, RFTA. Definitely not on. Try asking to be reimbursed, that should make your point...

    Thanks for that very helpful link on different kinds of bikes. I feel like a bike ride now, but can't go...too much to do!

    Grrrrrrr, received an email back from them "...viewing arrangements was amended on Tuesday 10th May to make it by apt .... you appear to have an old version of the pdf of the schedule ...."

    They have now got an even "stinkier" email saying that as it's obviously down to the incompetence of someone in their office not updating the pdf on their website, I would expect reimbursement of my time & fuel costs - did also copy to their centralised email box in case the person concerned thought they'd just ignore it.

    Oh, I'm bad sometimes, but I just hate people taking the "whatnot".

    Was going to try to go out on my bike for a wee while (not been on as much as I should:o) but it's REALLY windy here so may have to wait until tomorrow.

    Hope everyone's having a better day than me!:D

    Slowlyfading, thank you for the recipe! I put the Tea Loaf on to cook before I dropped my son and school and went for a run and came back home to a delicious breakfast!. I used 4oz sugar and I think you could possibly replace it with grated apple too as it's still really sweet. I'll experiment! I'm weight watching and it works out at 6pro points per slice if you have 12 slices to a cake which is a bargain! Half of it is going to my neighbour as a thank you for smoked rainbow trout he makes for us.

    I did wonder about the sugar - I'll try it with less next time :) Glad you liked it though!

    hi everyone, wow 10 pages to catch up on! i'm sorry i just dont have the time to do that right now. i've gone back a couple of pages so i'm sorry if i've missed anything significant.

    Happy Birthday Sandra!!

    Minnie - i'm so sorry to hear things have gone wrong again. you've been working so hard. it's not much consolidation but just think how bad things might have been if you hadnt been so careful.

    IMHart - gosh i'm so sorry to hear about the van fire. i hope the insurance comes through soon. i'm so glad no one was hurt and that it didnt spread to the house they were working on.

    ~~~~
    it's my cousins wedding on friday, and i'm very very torn on what to wear. i've a nice blue flowery sun dress (Joules, via CS) already that's perhaps a bit casual and a nice 50s style black with peacocks on (Collectif) that's perhaps a bit eccentric BUT also picked up a very smart black and white flowers summer prom style dress thats costing 36 from BHS that my purse says i should take back but mum says is perfect. eek! I'm confused!
    also i went to my first house clearance on sunday. was a little odd poking around through the ladys dead dad's stuff, but i think nicer for the family than an unsypathetic (because they dont know) crowd at a car boot sale. i got some old sewing stuff, a fab retro knitting bag and a few pillow cases, anti-macksas, and lace hankies. i'll give them a new home, a new purpose and that made the lady, and me, happy.
    due to all the building work, and the dress buying ect, my bank account is again periously low. am so glad it's pay day on friday. so i'm trying harder to use up the random stuff in the cupboard... why did i buy a box of semolina? what on earth am i going to do with it?
    Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!
    make semolina ;)
    at work they use it to dust some of the breads, including the submarine rolls. have been thinking of trying the same thing at home, as I love the flavour of the sub rolls :)
    I use it (or polenta) underneath bread and pizza - just a small handful on the baking tray. It gives a nice crisp texture to the underneath.
    Hello fellow frugallers:j
    Hugs to all those who need them.
    I have had a formal warning from OH here at Gnat Bottomed Towers...no more whoopsies. I had such a successful haul from Waitrose on the way back from work tonight that I have managed to completely fill the freezer:D
    No major spends over the last couple of days as was working at a show with OH in London yesterday so couldn't get up to mischief- we got some good orders which is splendid news and will keep OH busy into next year.
    When I was walking to work last week I noticed that a ladies's top had been thrown aside on the verge- when I came home it had been flung into the hedge. Well it's been there a week now so I've rescued it...it's my size so I am going to wash it and see if it's any use. Waste not want not...the frugal things I'll try:D
    Hi everyone
    Bit of a spend today today on a few cards, the ubiquitous topshop voucher for a teenager, bic biros for the girlies exams (half price) lunch in a college cafe before my appointment at my weight maintenance group and some veg for tonights soup.
    Very pleased have managed to lose a kilo despite not being able to walk properly due to my foot injury but the regular swimming instead has obviously helped.
    You could make gnocchi. Google 'semolina gnocchi' as there is also a potato version. It's savoury, cheesy bake, a good rib-sticking food but I'm afraid I've never made it myself so don't have a preferred recipe.
    I still like semolina the British way, milky and with a dollop of jam in the middle...Nyom.
    I have been known to do this but it's one of the frugal actions I still feel a bit :o about. I'll happily skip-dip but I would cringe if a friend found me pulling clothes from the hedge. (Doesn't stop me though, if something obviously isn't going to be claimed.)
