    Yay Dollymix!

Lorna: We were really pleased we chose October as we made a huge saving on the marquee price as it was out of season- so moving our wedding back a week was great! Means we can also negotiate on caterers etc... so even more savings can be made if you ask!

Just wanted to say I made my first wedding purchase today... I got 4 White Umbrella's from ebay for just over £20 inc delivery! :money: Thought I should be prepared! Hopefully we should be able to get some amazing wedding photo's in the rain!

How soon is everyone going dress shopping? I am refusing to start until at least october, but having a look on the forums and some people seem to have it sorted well in advance!

    Hi all!

I'm also getting married on October the 20th, already seems like quite a popular choice - great minds n all :) we chose the date as it'll be 11 years since we got together. I'm loving the autumn colours, am hoping to get Burnt orange/Copper bridesmaid dresses and have a natural leaf/conker/general autumn theme. Can't believe how organised most of you are, knowing me I'll leave it all last minute

My mum has already booked a couple of appointments for me to try on dresses at the end of July, will probably just get an idea, not sure if I'll actually get anything then. Hope it's not too early?

Well the only thing I worry about in starting dress shopping now is that I will find a dress a like, buy it, but nearer the time find one I like more and wish I had got that one instead! I have loads of people wanting to take me dress shopping, and they all seem to assume I will start looking right away!
I have started a scrapbook though, of dresses from magazines, so I do have an idea of what I want. I think I will start looking in shops in October.

As far as planning to far in advance... I don't think it is possible! People have things planned and picked out for Summer 2013 weddings! I guess it just depends how much you are doing yourself. We are planning on doing everything ourselves (apart from caterers & entertainment), so I need to think about flowers, stationary, bridesmaids etc now, not with six months to go- I cant do it all at the same time! I haven't really started doing anything though- just choosing designs we like.

Elin: We have chosen an acorn & oakleaf motif for our Save the Dates- great mind think alike!

If you are on your honeymoon for two weeks after I think 3-4 weeks sounds good. You don't want to come straight back and go into a party, you will probably want to get your pics printed! Then the people who were not at the wedding can see you in your dress!!

After saying I did not want to go dress shopping so soon... I have a dress!! Early on when flicking through mags I found a small designer who made the most amazing dresses. Looked on the website, loved nearly all of the dresses but totally unaffordable! Have been browsing seeing if I can find one second hand, and found one on ebay! Cost £107. Haven't seen it in the flesh yet but at that price (and seeing as I had been hankering over it since I first saw it) I thought I can't go wrong!! Yay!

I will still go dress shopping though... don't want to miss out on anything!

Hey all! We've provisionally booked 6th October 2012 today. Not sure whether we'll have save up enough by then to pay though, so in 2 minds about what to do. However, can anyone tell me what I need to do if we go ahead with that date? Do we need to book the registrar now?? :-)
