Welcome and congrats, wow you have virtually everything organised already!

We should be booking our venue in the next couple of weeks but Im struggling with dates as I really want to have it on the friday of the October half term but how it falls next year it looks like it might be later so the friday might be Nov 2nd, Im waiting for the local council to bring out their term dates for next year for my daughters school before we can definately book anything.

I think Autumn is a lovely time to get married its a very romantic, cosy and pretty time of year :)
  • Hello! Another newly-engaged one here! I seem to have the same dilemma as you CarrieBee - waiting to find out the half term dates for 2012! I'm guessing we will be getting married on 2nd November 2012 but not done anything about it yet. Need to start looking at venues. The men are definately more excited about the stag do and are getting ideas together for that already but whever I mention going to look at reception venues, I am called a Bridezilla!!!

    Honestly!!

hehe cheers guys i need to be organised to be honest as i have a lot of things happening this year (driving test and race for life on my birthday lmao) so need get some space to relax in soon hopefully and with lil one running around seems impossible. I'm honestly getting frustrated that i have to wait til next year to order things like formalwear for ushers. groom, fg and pageboy cause of sizes. anything that i can sort will be sorted this year :D me and my partner chose end september early october depending on venue and church now, does anyone know of any good websites or deals for honeymoons yet? (ones that will book for next year?!) love that so many of us like that time of year and good luck in everyones planning.

nice to see bettyb writing evrything down a must for anything this big i think i have one special book for everything and remember to write where you saw things... lost a lot of time on this.

    Hi All,

First post on Money Saving Forums although I have been a subscriber of the emails for years.

We are getting married on Saturday 6th October 2012 in Dorset, and have the wedding venue sorted, and have just found a marquee hire company with 25% discount in October (and competitive rates to start with). We are having the reception in OH parents garden (they have loads of space). So we have booked the venue(s) and the registrars, and next thing on my list is caterers.

We really want to have a nice afternoon tea as a kind of posh (but fairly cheap) alternative to a sit down 3 course meal. Our whole families are massive tea drinkers, so that will go down well! The only thing is I don't know where to start!?

I have put the OH in charge of the band, (I do not have a musical bone in my body so dreading the first dance!) I think he would like to get a blues brothers tribute band, but finding people takes time!

It doesn't help that like others in this post we are living in London and getting married elsewhere, so arranging to see/meet caterers to check them out etc could be nightmare.

If anyone has any tips on caterers/ bands that would be great!

whoa - not been on this thread for aaaages! nice to see so many of us getting married in October - doublemummy you are my date twin! :j

i haven't got much more organised since my last post (...trying to remember what i said :o ) ....erm, sent out our save the dates for initial RSVPs - getting married in my hometown rather than where i live now. As OH has a larger family than me we restricted sending them to immediate family and aunts and uncles only (no cousins) and our closest friends. As we're working to a strict budget (as many of us are!) we had to restrict initial numbers, but through sending out the STD we have had a few No's so can now invite the cousins - yey :j haven't sent them STD, they will find out when they receive their formal invitations.

got a meeting with our co-ordinator this friday to go through approx numbers, costs, etc. so looking forward to that at the mo :D

anyone thinking of/got themes and/or colours in mind? i can't decide. orignally thought of purple/ivory.....then that changed to purple/ivory with splashes of orange....then i saw some lovely pale green bridesmaid dresses in BHS so thought that could be the main colour with splashes of purple and orange..... it's all so draining on my brain!!! :rotfl:

    YAY Nic Noc

Loving october weddings apart from how much cheaper it is i kinda hope all the leaves will have dropped but still be pretty colours

my colours are royal blue and silver (nic noc i also decided by my bridesmaids dresses lol)

very busy over the next 2 years so have to be hugely organised, everything budgeted out on spreadsheets files of ideas and quotes not H2B like the 'work' side of me lol

Nic a nice drink seems to do the trick for me when my brain melts out of my nose

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

secretly dont like people who are hindering the organisation **** cough best men **** one does keep informing me that he and his partner are trying to get pregnant so his waist size might change ...........huh?
The only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 5

We sent out save the date emails a few weeks ago. We were not going to bother (didn't think October was a particularly busy time for people), but then we got a phone call from OH's sister (also one of my bridesmaids) saying what date was it again because she has just booked Michael McIntyre tickets for herself- luckily turned out to be the week after our wedding! So then sent them out pretty quick!

We are going for an Autumn theme (a bit predictable I know). But as it is in a marquee we can incorporate the outdoors, and thinking browns, greens and deep oranges/ yellows. Using moss and leaves in the flower designs as well (they are free!)

Hi to all the new october brides to be!

    Johannalf88 you're my date twin!!! :T

I'm thinking dark/cadburys purple and either silver or gold as colours, although occasionally see other colours I really like.

Thinking we'll send out save the dates this October.
