Have some recipes for a cleaning solution and it needs borax. Does anyone know anything about borax. Is it harmful to the environment? Where can it be bought from? Thanks
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

    Hi ,

my first post after lurking for months,

you can buy borax in boot the chemist and most good hardware stores if you are lucky enough to have one near to home.

I found this info about borax http://chemistry.about.com/od/howthingsworkfaqs/a/howboraxworks.htm?rd=1

    Hope this helps.

I usually buy it online, ebay or summernaturals.co.uk but you can get it in boots etc. It is also used in taxidermy.

http://www.greenlivingtips.com/articles/115/1/Handy-borax-tips.html some info on there about the environmental side

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borax, but it's a bit technical. (However, if I ever need to cure a snake skin, I now know what to use.)

    http://www.dri-pak.co.uk/products/householdborax.html looks more helpful.

From "Thrifty Ways ...", you can get 750g boxes for under £2 in some branches of Boots and Wilkinsons. You can also get it from the above Dri-Pak website.

    Hi vivw,

I've added your post to a thread on borax that should help answer some of your questions. As far as I know borax is environmentally friendly as it stated on the last pack that I bought that it could be used on anything that would not be harmed by water.

I use it on my hair regularly and it works wonders.

Only your mind would be racing over that! :kisses3:

I use it for getting stains out of clothes and from time to time when washing my hair. What do you do with it? Or shouldn't I ask? :p:D
