  • After having no luck in my local Boots and Superdrug, both said they were having problems getting it from their suppliers, I eventually found it in a hardware store.

what is borax? what is it used for? Is it wax made from bored bees, to clean furniture?
I came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.
  • Its Borax decahydrate to you mate!
300g of it costs about 89p in Wilkinsons
You use it for cleaning just about anything and apparently can be used as an ant killer if you mix it with icing sugar and leave it by the nest

Any advice on where to get this? I've asked at my local chemists and they say they are not allowed to stock it?

So why are they not allowed to stock it?

Can it be used in bomb making and stuff?

I searched the land for this stuff and was told the same! Eventually bought it from Dri-Pak - but I have seen it in Boots. I was told at several chemists that it was on a list of controlled substances as was rubbing alcohol which the girls in America use a lot for cleaning windows and other stuff.

Even the old fashioned hardware stores said the same.

I wanted it to make the washing powder and eventually used Superdrugs stain soak in its place - it is cheap too £1.09 last time I bought it, for 500 grams.

What is the difference between borax and soda crystals?

I used soda crystals on some stubborn stains on my whites and it came out great.
