  • We have a tiny little Boots and it sells Borax right at the back with a lot of their really cheapy homebarnd things and soap flakes. I'm becoming a bit of a Borax junky - what else can I use it for!!

    That's great. Remember that the quantities quoted are for American Front Loading Machines which are much larger. Reduce the amount used for European machines. HTH

    I am fairly certain we used this to rid my nephew of cradle cap, rubbed into his damp hair as a baby. However, when I had my own children I found that baby oil did the trick.

    Thanks for the info about mail order for borax. I live in Surrey area and just cannot get it anywhere so I will order some from these people. It is good there is no delivery charge on top.

    I dont know if I am working it out wrong, but it seems to me the bicarbonate of soda seems to cost twice as much as what we pay for those teeny tubs in the baking section. Maybe someone else can confirm this?

    We mix it with icing sugar to get rid of ants, works a treat because the greedy little critters can't resist taking the mixture back to their nest :D

    My Mother in Law was told that one by some pest control fella.
