re daughters....I must have been the one from hell with Dusty Springfield eyes(ask your mum if you don't know what I mean:rotfl:) and skirts so short dad used to say that's a nice skirt you are nearly wearing(not to mention a backlace dress at school dance when i fancied the geography master(dohhh should not have mention that!!!)Dad told me not to wear hot pants out so put them under a maxi skirt till I got to the disco:rotfl:

Yes, I remember the days when my dad used to tell me I looked like a corpse when I was wearing Boots 17 Twilight Teezer lipstick that everyone else was wearing.

My daughter is 12 and is going through same phase. The not wearing a coat thing drives me insane. On Saturday when it was glorious weather she came into the house after karate, changed form her ghee into a very short skirt, lacy tights and a cap to sit out in the garden in (thankfully she wasn't going anywhere!) but we made her get changed out of these clothes. The only time we will let her wear short skirts is with leggings (or if it's for a party with tights). I really don't get it. The jeans that she has from New Look are so nicely fitted so why does she want to wear anything else? MrM's cousin bought her a horrid leopard print bat wing top for Christmas which makes her look like Bet Lynch and I suspect she only likes it because I don't.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

I used to eat vicks vapour balm when I was a child, can't imagine why.

Kaz - you are scaring me, I have a 7 year old DD and she want's to wear some odd things already. What i find really annoying is that really inappropriate clothing is available in their sizes and all the pretty things go up to 5/6 years with the odd exception. She still really likes pretty things so we are OK at the moment, apart from having to hunt them down but I can see the signs. It doesn't help when all the singers she likes dress like that or don't bother dressing at all.

DD's only 9  she's very large for her age so is in clothes a couple of sizes bigger anyway. She has major attitude problems at the best of times as she thinks she knows best at all times and complains about the way people speak to her when she's the person who winds everyone up to screaming fit. GAH!
Sometimes it's not pleasurable at home. In fact, most of the time it's not. Life is a constant battle with DD and we are just counting down the days until she leaves home :( She's got a disgusting mouth on her too and a horrible temper. She wants me to take her clothes shopping agin today and I've told her not on her nellie.
She's moaning about not having any sandals, she has a pair of ballerina shoes (type but better supported). I said that's enough and DH thinks not because she can't run around in them and they are not suitable for playing out but my argument is, nor are sandals. She wouldn't be allowed to play out with sandals on as I would make her change into trainers so I don't see why she has to have separate sandals.
She's desperate for crocs which I won't let her have. The trouble is, I'm a bit fanatical about shoes because they can do so much damage to kids feet which are so soft boned.
Oh well, she'll go off as soon as she turns 16 and buy crocs and stilettos and end up with plantar fasciitis. Nasty disease that :(

    Sorry about the OT rant.

Back OT, I used that radox shower smoothie last night. It smells disgusting. WNBA, although it's not UU yet, I'll let everyone else use it up!

My daughter used to go out when dressed up in a skirt so short it was a pelmet... I did really worry, but at 6'2'' with absolutely fantastic legs she also looked amazing, not tarty. Most of the time she was in jeans and jumpers, thankfully.

My grand-daughter is 10 in June, also very tall for her age (size 7 shoes!) TG, she has no real attitude problems and accepts that some clothes are not appropriate. I bought her a Goth style top a while back and she loves that.

On topic, I have a big item UU The (fishing bottle out of recycling to read label) 250 ml Vie at Home Body Nutrition Shower Juice with Superfood Complex. Containing Ruby Grapefruit Juice, Raspberry Seed Oil (who knew?), Omega 3,6,9, Vitamins A & E, Orange Fruit Extract and Mild Loofah. Now if you were going to drink anything, that might have been one you would have been tempted by!
It did smell wonderfully fruity but no I wouldn't drink liquid detergent, which is what it is, when all is said and done.

WIBA? It was a raffle prize being used up under PRCP. It isn't on the website now and even if it was, I wouldn't.
No shower gel is worth a tenner in my book. It was lovely to use, and smelt gorgeous, but so do all the OS shower gels.
What also put me off it was the really stupid bottle design - very tall and thin with a rounded top. It's spent the last month upside down and being propped up by other products in the corner of the bath so I could get the product out without waiting a minute under the shower for it to slide down the bottle.
An odd thing. When products have weird names like the above, I can never, ever, remember what they are called - I think it's because my cynical brain knows there is an element of Emperor's New Clothes behind most of these overpriced products and dismisses the hype.

Meanwhile I also UU'ed a Superdrug Vitamin E Eye Contour Gel. Again, being used up under PRCP, but I must have more faith in this as I can remember the name. Was about 4-5 years old, but still seemed ok. WIBA? I don't think they make it any more. I have an Olay eye gel to use up next. I do like the cool feeling around the eyes first thing in the morning.

Just popping in.... Nowt much to say, no Ins or UUS to report....

Incredibly bored now everything has finished, apart from doing a huge load of washing and to apply for jobs my life feels somewhat empty at the moment....Ive also realised just how shocking daytime TV is...dear god...Selection of Jeremy Kyle, Midsummer murders and a choice of antique programmes or house shows..... Only tiny bit of excitement came when I saw Beverly Hill Cop 2 was on last tv last night......

  • I was obviously a deeply uncool teenager then, because I lived in jeans and slogan T shirts and trainers (well I still do to be quite honest) and never went out anywhere. It wouldn't have even occured to me to buy a short skirt or a tight top that showed lots of cleavage because I really didn't like my body when I was that age and thought I was nowhere near pretty enough to wear any of that stuff. I am a bit better about it now and own a fair few skirts and dresses, including some quite short ones, but I still generally wouldn't wear anything like that in my everyday life.

Hi all! Just had a scan of the posts to catch up - am :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: at the people eating their toiletries!!!! I'll admit to being a bad one for licking the lipbalm off my lips before it's had a chance to be of any use, but can't say I've decided to taste anything else yet! But then I've not tried the Breakfast Scrub, so maybe I'm just not using the right things...!! :D

Will have some UU to report tonight I think, lots of splutterers that are clinging on for dear life.

Now I have unboxed all my stash and made it visible (and can barely move for it!) I'm going to try a bit more shock therapy tonight and actually work out how long my stash will last. I'm pretty sure I have at least 2 years worth of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel, if not more... might help put things into perspective and stop future purchasing incidents!

Charlie - just wanted to say hope you're ok and working everything out with OH. xx

Spent 15 minutes responding to Kaz and then lost the thing... lots of hugs and supportive thoughts, with your nursing background you've probably investigated the DD hormones / early puberty thing, which jumped into my mind.

    On topic - don't shoot me - http://www.supersavvyme.com/product/triedandtested/pantene/pantene-pro-v-aqua-light.aspx

A freebie sample of Pantene shampoo and conditioner, Pro -V aqua - light.
