Ah, but what about their human rights? After all, most of them were only buying a pint of milk (which happened to have petrol and a lit rag stuffed in to it) ...

The second you set foot onto the street in a balaclava or with a scarf covering your face i reckon you should lose your human rights. The photos of our Beautiful Country shown around the world this morning are of a PSNI officers face on fire. I dont care if they are 10 or 110, kick the !!!! out of them and throw them in jail

I was being sarcastic - if someone (from either side) is throwing a brick or petrol bomb at you, they're trying to kill you. In the Independent Republic of Redped, that would automatically mean the police/army would be allowed to reply with the same level of force.

Heard on the radio they're wanting to hold the Open in our fair country seeing how we have 2 fantsatic golfers. Unfortunately we have far more than that in the way of recreational rioters and the pictures of that poor policeman circulating around the globe will do nothing to improve our image.

So back on topic ..... only in our wee country do scumbags have to throw bricks & petrol bombs in order to get a shower!!

The Open was held here before - Royal Portrush. Long time ago admittedly but it was held there.

Yeah that same radio soundbite mentioned it had been held here before in 1951 but given events of the last few days, it may well stay as a distant memory or in my case before my lifetime :(

Whilst I agree withyou there's the old Norn Irn sentiment that "it wasn't as bad as last year". I particluarly liked the way the police corralled them in. I just can't understand why they didn't tighten the ring and arrest the lot of them. This year they had command of the rooves at Ardoyne shopping centre so they had the upper hand.
