Brick bandits strip NIHE site in south Belfast
The NI Housing Executive has appealed to people to stop dismantling houses to steal bricks which are being sold on as salvage.
The appeal came as it emerged that so-called "brick bandits" are stripping a Housing Executive demolition site in the Village area of south Belfast.
A lucrative trade has grown up around reclaimed Belfast bricks which can retail for between 50p to £1 each.

Only in Northern Ireland can we tell a total lie but then believe we can make what we are saying appear true by adding "So it is.." to the end of the sentence.0

I did an evening class in German a few years ago and the teacher was a native german now living in Nortern Ireland. She was always complementary about her adopted wee country. She said that in Germany the accent changes a bit from one place to another, but she found that in Norn Iron the accent changed every 5 miles. She said it in a nice way and was not being critical as she had developed a an accent from where she lived in here in NI.
I found this interesting. She is right for example Portadown accent completely different from Lurgan accent yet only a few miles apart. Coleraine accent completely different from Ballymoney accent as well and I think they are only 4 or 5 miles apart. There are loads of examples I suppose.0 -
It takes a very well trained ear though to detect the subtle changes in areas which are close to each other. Easy to distinguish between Belfast, Stroke City, North Antrim and Mid-Ulster - even Fermanagh.0
