Only in Northern Ireland do forums go as quiet as the grave on the 12th of July
Which reminds me, I must go and tend to my lilies

Everyone had a day off to enjoy the sunshine, I don't see the problem with that :T although I see it rained at a time in Belfast, we in Londonderry (there I'm not afraid
) had a lovely day of glorious sunshine.
I also enjoy having the 17th of March off as a bank holiday also:) don't rock the boat or we could lose 2 bank holidays;)I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -

Not everyone apparantly. Most shops were open in Belfast and doing a roaring trade. A far cry from the days when the Province was closed for the day. Loads of tourists as well according to the telly. We went nowhere. The weather wasn't certain enough.
Ref the Derry thing:
I was in the army with a load of Derrymen and they called it Derry. The Apprentice Boys seem to favour Derry. The city council calls it Derry so to me it's Derry. (I'm not one for cosying up to political points). The county is Londonderry however and that's what I call it.
I like things to have their proper names
PS We celebrated St Patrick's Day in the army, so why shouldn't everyone, he's everybody's saint and it's good excuse for a booze-up
