Can my Ex Husband keep me out of my own house?

He claims he wants to sell it, in fact he is saying he will take ME to court to enforce the sale as I'm being unreasonable asking too much for it, hence me attempting to get further valuations...
However when I try to arrange valuations he wont let me unless he is present.
Surely this is wrong? He says he doesnt want a stranger going into his home where all his stuff is!
Does he have to give me the alarm code?x0 -

So he's not refusing you entry, he's just asking to be present when the estate agent is there. To be honest, I wouldn't want someone poking around my home without me there either.0 -

It depends on whether he is being reasonable about being available for EA visits or whether this is just an excuse.0 -
Tigger the alarm off emyer the house and removed the fuse from the alarm.
Look at the main alarm box, near it (should be) will be an electric plug style box, on this should be written fuse, get this to open ,you might need a screwdriver, and take fuse out.
Get legal advise NOW from your solicitor regarding the house.
The alarm will still go off.
They're set to do that in case a burglar cuts the mains or pulls the fuse.
The back-up battery will be in the main alarm unit and an other in one of the outside bellboxes, these will continue to sound if you cut the main current.
You need an alarm engineer NOT a sparky.!C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z # 40 spanner supervisor. No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thought.Only after the last tree has been cut down. Only after the last fish has been caught. Only after the last river has been poisoned. Only then will you realize that money cannot be eaten."l! ilyë yantë ranya nar vanwë"0 -
The police would be there to ensure her safety....No mention of the police breaking in...she has a key...He is less likely to be obstructive if police are thereWhy would the Police help? 'Get a locksmith madam or break-in yourself / with a friend. The Police will not break into a house causing damage to jointly owned property so OP can show an Estate Agent around.0 -
Theres only one side of the story here. If i was the husband living in the house for the last 12 months then im sure i wouldnt like people poking around my home while im not there.
The police wont just turn up for the op unless there is a history of violence, they are not marriage guidence or babysitters.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
True there is only one side of the story, as I am the one asking for advice not him.
I fully respect the fact that he has been living there for the past year & may not want somebody poking round the house, however there are a lot of my personal belongings in the house that he is also now refusing to give back.
As I own the majority of the property I have been more than fair in allowing him to stay there for a heavily reduced price (4 bed house for £300 per month subsidised by me!) he apparantly moved his girlfriend in over a year ago according to neighbours however still maintains to me that he lives alone so can only afford £300 per month.
I left my personal belongings there when I moved out as I was effectively homeless & didn't have anywhere for storage.
It was agreed at the time that I could keep mt belongings there until I had somewhere for them.
The issue now is that he is being obstructive by claiming he is unavailable for valuations but not allowing me to accompany them myself. He is also refusing me entry to the property so I can check on it's upkeep etc, I have not been into the property for a year but was not worried until recently when he started acting suspiciously about me gaining entry to the property.
I worry that he has done something to damage it or worse is using the property for illegal means.
He is refusing me entry to the property to personallly check it's condition or to take any of my belongings whether he is there or not.
As he refuses to give me the code what would happen if he was on holiday & the alarm was triggered? How would I be able to turn it off?
I feel that he has something more sinister to hide as in 9 years whilst we were married the house alarm was not once used & suddenly it is?0 -
How long has it been on the market for? if its already with an agent and not selling for the price your husband reckons its worth then surely getting another agent in to try and get a higher price isnt going to work.
(have you got any brothers or family members who can call to the house with you?)Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
I'm not trying to get a valuation to sell for a higher price I'm trying to get a few different valuations to gauge if it's on for the right price or not, the agent we are with currently have not been especially helpful & claim they have no idea why it is not selling as they have no viewer feedback to go on (which technically is true nobody has looked at it)
I want to get several valuations so it goes for a fair price I don't want to over or under value it.
Ex claims im being unreasonable trying to sell at the price it's at despite it being marketed at 35k less than the lowest initial valuation he says he will take me to court to drop the asking price (if it drops much more we will be unable to clear the mortgage)
the nearest comparable properties to ours are on the Market for between 10 & 55k higher than ours so I need other opinions on what is a reasonable price to ask.0
