I have been making good progress with my OP Challenge and I am down to £711.56 :j

I hadn't realised that the garage door also needs painting so I had to postpone any DIY as it was too windy. I would have had lots of dust, dead leaves and detritus from our neighbourhood stuck to my gloss work!

I did buy a new car. I collect it next week. Can't wait:)

My freezer is playing up yet again so we are having to run it down to defrost it again. There are going to be some weird meals dished up this week I think. Salmon and Neapolitan ice cream anyone?? :rotfl:

    Morning all.

I painted the garage door and wooden surround. I'm very pleased with the result. Last night I managed to motivate DH into helping me insulate it inside. Hopefully this will cool the garage in summer and keep it warmer in winter, helping the fridge and freezer stored out there.

My personal OP challenge is going well. I've just under £600 to go. However it's all a bit academic now because the endowment letter arrived with the final figure. The payout is more than I expected; it doesn't quite cover the entire mortgage balance. But instead of me needing approx. £600 to pay it off, I need £52.51. So, the first week in August, the mortgage will be gone :j:j:j

    Hi Radish.

We are very excited that it will be gone.

The first job is to pay the credit card as I have been sending payments to the mortgage that would ordinarily have gone to the credit card. The card is 0% so it made sense to do that.

We have a fortnight in California booked for next Easter so we need to save for that. Thereafter I need to turn my focus to our pension pot.

31 days to go. This time next month we will be MF :j:j

Frustrating day with DH today. He is training for a 100 mile charity ride, only there's not much training going on and the event is looming. Today he decides that his bike set up is all wrong so books a bike check for £100  The bike co have told him that he is riding the wrong size bike (of course he is ) and have recommended a replacement for £1000 :eek: This charity event could cost us a small fortune.

    Rant over.

Don't forget to download the Aviva app when you have your policy through to get a free drink at cafe Nero every Monday (and other offers/comps too) :-)

Thank you ourcornercottage. I didn't know about that.

Only two days until the endowment pays out :j :j :j

We have been warned it may take three to five days to clear our bank account. I shall be watching our bank account like a hawk!

Endowment has paid out (cleared funds) and we have made a dinky little OP of £24000!!

Off to London today so won't be able to contact our mortgage provider for a redemption figure until Monday.

    I can't stop smiling......
