    Happy Easter everyone!

Popping on to update spend of £2.18 today. Bread, milk & eggs.

Welcome to all newbies, you'll love it here. (Sounds weird saying newbies. Been here a couple of years and still consider myself one too!)

I noticed while in my T£sco earlier that it will be closing for a week for a refit. My thoughts went as follows:

    1. Oh no, where will I do my shopping!
    2. Ooh, I bet if I go in the day before they close I'll get loads of bargains!!:rotfl:

I needn't worry about my shopping. We have a Mr M's a couple of minutes further up the road. And several of the big SM's have stores on my way home from work. It may help to break my "I'll just nip to the shop" addiction :o

Has anyone else had their SM close and what's your advice on when to get the best bargains? I'm looking forward to it though as we'll get a fresh meat & fish counter which is sadly lacking at the mo. It's only a wee T£sco's, not an express or anything, just small.

    Rambled enough

    Enjoy the bank holiday!
My name is CherryPie and I'm addicted to grocery shopping!!

Saturday went to the G/C and spent £5.15 plus £13.00 in Ic3land so total for month so far is £172.95 well in budget so far as there is still £67 left and only 6 days left.:)

Today we had the last joint of turkey which was cut up and frozen at christmas when we were both to ill to eat it. Very nice it was too and very moist. Then used some more apples up which were also in freezer and had them in apple and rhubarb crumble (enough left for tomorrow as well and also some turkey left which will get used up)

Off to eat a bunny now - :EasterBun:rotfl:

That is soooooooooo sweet of your dad Hippeechiq, Dinny worry I will help you. I'm a plant 'freak' lol . I love growing stuff. I was down in my greenhouse this morning potting up bedding plants. Maybe it would be a good idea to try and involve your DD, ask her to help you, by looking up how to care for them on the net etc /library and with watering /feeding etc, it may be something you can enjoy together.
The cherry tomatoes do well in hanging baskets if you have any. (if you don't let me know and I will send you a couple, I have lightweight ones). You will need a couple of hooks or two brackets , I've seen these for about £1 each in A**A/ T***o etc I planted three cherry tomatoes per basket, and had hundreds of fruits. M*******S have 8 black florists tubs for 99p each ( they are deep and great for all the veg you mentioned), you need to make holes in the bases for drainage, but they are great.
I wish you great joy from your wonderful gift, you may not realise yet just how wonderful it is. PM me your address and I will send you a few bits and bobs you will find useful. LOVE AND LIGHT! xx

This post has just bought a tear to my eye. It shows how supportive and friendly everyone is on GS, Mothership I think this especially kind considering what you and your own family are dealing with at present that you can find some time to support others.

Yesterday I popped to Aldi for a few bits including mini eggs, spent £3.25
Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases

Definitely agree. The support on here is amazing. Mothership glad your growing is going well. Why is mine not? I'm only about 13miles north and mine was a disaster last year.

Morning all, think it's time for me to get on the grocery challenge again! Things have been pretty good since I last did it, but I can see that spending is creeping slowly up, and this will concentrate mine and the kids' minds wonderfully - I hope!

Mrs M - pls put me down for £300 for May

This isn't as strict as it seems, as I have freezers full of food that I need to start making a dent in!

Mothership - I hope that I can pick your brains about growing stuff too, as I've just put in four raised beds, and haven't grown this much stuff before! ;) But I'm hopeful that it'll save us lots of money this summer!

  • Have just totalled up my recipts so far - £151.89 of £180 budget. I have to do the last shop of the month tomorrow, so am going to have to try really hard to stay in budget - have done a meal plan and hope I can do it, it's just nappies and cat food that might tip the balance. Will update after the shop tomorrow!

    Happy bank holiday all x
